I don't because I don't use any of those default folders at all. A few programs do, by default, but nothing that ends up there is of any significant size. My sim rig only has a 256GB NVME system drive and it is currently more than half empty.

1st 1x I/O for OS

2nd 1 x I/O for APPS

3rd 1xI/O for streaming/editing etc.if need to run with APP from 2nd I/O channel

The idea is to have 1 dedicated I/O channel anytime available, regardless of what other channels or apps are doing.

For any APP that runs permanently you want 1 x I/O

Modern YT Gamers PC I guess should look like this

OS 1x

Game 1x

Streaming_target_drive 1x

then add as many HDDs / NAS as you need for large storage

Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire  Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X

My 3 SSDs are

1- Windows and programs

2 - Game Capture recordings and other stuff

3 - Games

X2 External HDDs for po.............. dumping grounds and back ups.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Three versions of DCS (with all modules installed three times), lots of skins and other mods, support docs, videos, etc. Though it won't quite make it to 1TB it can grow quite quickly. Skins alone can quickly consume lots of space.

EDIT: I forgot to add mod backups to the list.

Unless you're doing other I/O intensive tasks like video rendering, a single 1TB SSD is overkill for Windows + DCS + Steam, even if you have a massive steam library. The only benefit to SSD storage is faster read/write times. Static files, like music, video, game assets that are unneeded at game load, etc. are best stored on a cheap HDD, as there's no performance gained from storing them on an SSD. Also, I can't see how distributing programs across three SSD volumes will make any of them perform more efficiently, any more than it would on 3 HDD volumes. But perhaps you have a RAID setup or some other special configuration that takes advantage of this.

For example VMware with multiple VMs running.

Just one example from my workload. I am sure Adobe guys have similar benefits, or cad.
