FlightControl
"Houston, we have a problem"... big time! Problem: The latest release of 1.5.7 seems to have big performance issues. Run the attached mission in DCS 1.5.6 and select red coalition , first KA-50. Go to external view and rotate. The mission will do a hickup at the start (this is normal), but should run smooth afterwards... Run the same attached mission in 1.5.7 and select red coalition, first KA-50. Do the same, go to external view and rotate. DCS 1.5.7 seems to have big performance issues at the moment. It stutters everywhere and is not playable. This is not good, sorry. Can I help to identify the root cause? Or, can you run a performance profile on this mission? I think it is either the AI, or the Detection or something. But something is wrong definitely. JG14_Smil
Anytime an update make performance worse, it is usually the shaders. Be sure to try renaming the saved games folders, run DCS, then move your settings back in.
Gizzy
Agreed on the stutter... running with missions albeit heavily populated with clients, objects and threats was great and smooth pre-update. Now they are unplayable with the stutter and around a 10% FPS loss. Drastically reducing the number of clients, objects & threats stops the FPS drop and the stutters. At first I though it was the MODS... then after deleting them I thought it was the scripts and deleted all of those. It seems the culprit is none of those but the amount of objects and clients in the mission. Looks like this causes a CPU load issue which consequently does not feed the GFX card correctly.??? Texac
Turning MSAA off runs the sim very well again here. Seems like the similar issue that is known in 2.1 as well, with the combination of the new lightning engine and MSAA turned on at 2x or more. - My Skins/Liveries - Improved F-16C Texture Template • Texac on YouTube •
EntropySG
a quick test seems to completely confirm Flightcontrol's finding. Stock mission "surrounded" -> running perfectly 132nd combat mission (with heavy scripting thanks to MOOSE framework) completely unplayable heavy stutters. 132nd won't be able to update to this version of DCS 1.57 unless there can be a fix found as we rely on MOOSE scripts for our training environment. Thanks a ton BIGNEWY for looking into it, hopefully it can be fixed :) edit: this has nothing to do with settings, Im testing on my work laptop with every eyecandy completely turned off Edited July 13, 2017 by EntropySG [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

EntropySG
I dont know if that helps with troubleshooting, but I ran a very fast quick test. 1. Ran MOOSE example mission scheduled spawning -> which keeps on spawning more and vehicles over time. Initially zero stutter, when it reached a count of 50 or so vehicles -> Stutter. 2. Blank mission, no MOOSE, zero scripting. Simply placed 50 vehicles in the mission editor manually (copy paste) -> same stutter (if not more) so it does not have to do with scripting at all, just the new version of DCS not being able to handle many objects? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 13, 2017 ED Team Share Posted July 13, 2017 ED will take a closer look so do not worry, my initial findings show if I remove the air defence units the stutter is gone, this may just be a reduction in units helping, when I know more I will let you all know. SDsc0rch
yep ------ i've got a pretty strong rig - i'm getting 60fps solid (v-sync), except over cities - then fps dips to mid-40s then low-30s (approx 1500ft AGL - looking toward city) empty mission - i just placed my own aircraft and thats it its goodnews/badnews though - no matter what settings i use, that is how it is ----- so, i've got ALL settings maxed (yay) - badnews is... no matter what, i can't get rid of low fps near cities but then again keep it all in perspective.. i've got 60fps at high alt / away from cities with settings maxxed full screen on or off its the same - NOTHING affects it - i've even got MSAA maxed out - all low textures or high - shadows, no difference - preload radius, trees/clutter no effect - 60fps solid ------ but fly near a city......? 30fps i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
