Ok just got mine in the post.

 

1st opinions:

 

Build quality feels cheap and delicate i wouldn't want to try the drop test.

 

2nd opinions:

 

After bending about for awhile and a couple of low altitude drops (10inchs ?) i felt more confident that it was more robust than 1st opinions. It still feels cheap not at all like the TrackIR.

 

Actually using it: This is where it shines !

 

Install 4.0.29Final and select the TrackClip as the Tracking device and say goodbye to back light problems. Tracking of head movement is more accurate and doesnt get baffled by quick movements or other movement behind you.

 

You dont notice anything stand out because when using it TrackIR with the Clip all is smooth and faultless with almost no deadzones or freakout lockups TBH i havent had one yet and i use to get em all the time, its just doing the job spot on ! As soon as you select the Clip the light filtering goes to MAX which is something you just cant do with the Vector Clip/ Reflect Dot/ TrackHat so instantly you know light from yonder window or the wife turning on the 15 lights on here makeup mirror wont send you spiraling out of control !

Final Thoughts:

 

Its waaaaaaaaay better than the IQ reducer hat, your head dont sweat and you dont look like a "special" boy with it on.

Hmmm. That's interesting. I didn't realize it had actual lights on the end of the 3 tips. So, it takes a battery I assume?

It has 3 IR emitters on the ends and its powered by USB, it uses a "USB Power Tap" which makes your USB socket into 2 so you dont use up anymore sockets.

Are you wondering about how the Trackclip Pro fits onto headphones with a thick headband? Just to give you an idea, I am using the Clip on Sennheiser headphones that have a headband that's almost 1 centimetre thick.

 

The Clip attachment has a spongy type thing that should help it clip onto headbands of a variety of thicknesses.

 

I find the Clip gives a slightly more responsive TrackIR experience. And using it also means that you don't have to wear a hat for long periods of time!!

Its all there in black and white (and some color) "Breaky Boy" ;).

 

I think not having to wear a stupid hat is the biggest reason although im sure people have gotten around that, i think someone emailed me a picture of their remedy but that was to stick the vector clip on the top of your headphones lol. How stupid do you need to look in the name of gaming ? ;)

OK so basically its what I thought then. No special features apart from improved tracking in bad conditions, and just more comfortable. I am guessing is worth the buy for those who have stability problems due to bad lighting. I myself will stay away from it for the moment then.

I got the ir5, the clipPRO still feels flimsy, it's a nice kit and works great, but I'm ever conscious about how I use it and moving it around...even when taking off my headset. I treat it like it's fragile, lol...I would not sim again if I don't have this kit. The freedom is amazing.

I fixed it using Sugru I would suggest anyone who has the pro clip do the same even if its not broken as this stuff would reinforce it check it out the future needs fixing and this is stuff to do it with.

I super glued my trackir 5 joints as soon as I got it into the correct position for myself!

 

Doesn't move, hence wont break, well probably will knowing trackir!

It is I have just made a keyboard for my other gaming exploits, I used it to stick cherry mx keys in a shape and format comfortable for my hand allowing for minimum finger movement across all 4 fingers using 12 keys.

 

When it sets it sets like a neoprene rubber very stiff with barley any flex at all.

And the best thing it bonds to anything porous and non porous surfaces.

According to the natural point forums the pro clip construction has changed making them less fragile. I just got mine about a week ago but it does feel easily breakable. The lower plastic arm has separated on me a couple times but it snaps back together. You can tell if you have a new version of the clip by the color around the led. A white ring is new. A goldish ring is old.

That place where they separate is also where they break (at least in my case). Too bad they just did that upgrade a couple of months ago as I already have three (counting the broken one). :(
