Their videos are finally getting better. First video without camera shacking or flickering.

Quality of texts seems great in the Pimax. Let`s hope it`s not a monitor screen they have filmed this time.:D;)

Well, yes, but the text they show is always zoomed in. It would be great to see a DCS cockpit at normal viewing distance with a steady camera. Hopefully one of the Beta testers will enlighten us shortly.

ive got to say the difference in clarity with my pimax 4k in 2.5 compaired to 1.5 is very noticeable. im not sure if its the lighting or textures handled differently but its like i have been flying with dirty lenses in 1.5 and then 2.5 is clean lenses. i think because i can turn the settings down more in 2.5 it gives abit smoother preformance but the load times for me are a killer as i have old hdds and a low end pc.

Text has already been remarked on in the prototype demos. It will be a little cleaner but I suspect the really small font stuff to still be difficult. Don't expect to read some of the really fine labels in say the Huey and SA342, and such. Zoom will still be a wanted tool. Remember these cockpits weren't designed for VR. Where the Pimax will likely shine is SITAW and possibly a little better target identifying at greater distance. I wouldn't expect miracles unless an effort is made to revamp some of the cockpits for VR. The SITAW should be crazy good though.

One thing is for sure. The picture is sharper and clearer. So it is expected to be better any way. We have to adapt to the limitations and maybe think about to use some alternatives.

For example, for tracking we should use Opentrack true SteamVR controls for tracking. In Opentrack we will be able to set zoom axes not only 1:1 so could be 1:2 or 1:3 so we will be able to zoom in anything as we need for clear vision.

I know someone will tell it is not realistic, yes but it is not real vision quality as well so this will compensate that way.

what the hell is sitaw?? is that an attempt to abbreviate the words "situational awareness"?...cuz there's not a single instance of the word sitaw in the internet.

I probably picked it up in a corny movie or something, but I'm glad you decoded the slang.

i wonder if open track will work with the 4k along side trackir ?. i know the piplay software doesnt work with it.

There is DIY 6DoF for Pimax 4K made from pingpongball and LED simulating PS move and using PSmoceService for it.

And it is work also there is versionwith kinect.

I want to see as much as possible on how clear the text is ,not interested if it has been remarked on before that's one of the selling points so the more feed back there is the better.

Some of the 7000 backers will surely offer up enough anecdotal feedback. There will be plenty written on this and plenty of comparisons long before it becomes a retail product.

There is not 7000 backers playing DCS so no not enough feedback, like Lensman said waiting for a backer using in DCS.

Looks like i was not 1/11 people chosen for testing, lol, 11 people, seems like such a fail (no im not bitter).

I wrote to Pimax and they said they were done with the selection process. So unfortunately, I also need to wait and hope that its good.

So you're "waiting for "(a) backer using in DCS" and complaining all 7000 aren't playing DCS so it it's not "enough"?

I can assure you at least one of those backers will post here what we have found when our hmds are delivered. Indeed there are many on the Pimax 8K threads who play DCS. Not all 7000 but since you said "a", I think we got you covered. If by the time you can actually buy one, you don't have all the information you need, I would be quite surprised.

Yeah 11 people for testing is an incredibly small representation.

The tester group is being assembled by Pimax to update the backers. Most of us, individually, given a few days with it, could answer the questions backers need before the shipping survey. So we don't need a lot of testers. Just ones with VR experience. The criteria for tester candidates is sufficient to that task.

There will be a Q/A session with testers in the forum that will fill in the gaps. We have a timeline saying shipping in Q2-within 12 weeks. We don't need to bog down in testers, unless the process proves inadequate to the task. We will know soon enough. I suspect the tester list will be posted this week.

If the PiMax 3DOF is indeed extendable with the extra X,Y,Z DOF "pingpongball" softwares, can you please explain why this 3DOF PiMax combination (Pitch, Roll, Yaw) is not working with the (X,Y,Z) DOF of TrackIR?

I've already posted here a pledge on this topic #520, but unfortunately, I did not receive an answer yet. I'll be really thankful for a prompt reply...

I am only interested in DCS simple, this is the DCS forum is it not.

I have not read any feedback from a DCS user so I am not interested in remarks such as this "Text has already been remarked on in the prototype demos."

Also regarding the (a) comments please do not reply to my posts anymore thanks.

If remarks don't do it for you, feel free to ignore them. Like i said the information will come by the time you can buy one. No point in continually repeating the same point or responding at all for that matter. Just wait like the rest of us. Not that you have a choice.
