DDSSTT Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Not the best, but my first attempt at a home pit for VR. Semi-modeled for the Hornet/Harrier. My knowledge level for electrical engineering prevents me from making my own buttons boxes and my even "poorer" scripting capability is causing issues programming the Warthog and Saitek/Logitech Switch Panel... I will hopefully figure it all out by the time the F-18 gets released in "two weeks"... :D  https://imgur.com/RbMOHs6 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/

VZ_342 Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Cable management! You don’t want an ankle snagging something and clearing the world! Otherwise it looks very roomy! :)
DDSSTT Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 Cable management! You don’t want an ankle snagging something and clearing the world! Otherwise it looks very roomy! :) That was the first picture, I still have to clean up everything. Also, got some questions about the X55, I get ghost buttons and weird axis readings, and programming is a pain. I unplugged everything the lead into the throttle and I reopened the base, I cut the Black wire to the glue and not to the board. The Y Rotation moves both the X Rotation and Z Axis a little bit which has made programming it a pain... occasionally button 1, 2, 4 have gone off as a ghost but they are not programmed and got around it by not pressing one of the switches very hard. seemed a genital touch stops the ghosting. dunno why. Mr_Burns Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Those look like nice big screens you are in the middle of, emersion will be awesome. Nice space to fill to as you want more and more gadgets!
RedBat07 Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Have you pluged X-55 into USB 3.0? It fixed ghost problem for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Schmidtfire Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 What do you think about the Thrustmaster MFD's? I use them sometimes with my Rift and I think they are way to small compared to the MFD's inside DCS VR.

Here's why: Mine was the same so we opened it up and re-wired with stronger, more flexible wire. Worked like a charm ever since... but a proverbial problem with the Rhino throttle, unfortunately. :-( i7 8700K @ Stock - Win11 64 - 64gb RAM - RTX 3080 12gb OC
DDSSTT Posted July 11, 2018 Author Posted July 11, 2018 Here's why: Mine was the same so we opened it up and re-wired with stronger, more flexible wire. Worked like a charm ever since... but a proverbial problem with the Rhino throttle, unfortunately. :-( I was talking about already removing the throttle grip since I had repaired the broken wires twice and one if the rotary axis completely broke off. After removing the throttle some of the buttons that were no longer attached to the base were triggering but this has since stopped for me. I guess the phantom pain of having your throttle grip ripped off finally went away... :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
DDSSTT Posted July 11, 2018 Author Posted July 11, 2018 What do you think about the Thrustmaster MFD's? I use them sometimes with my Rift and I think they are way to small compared to the MFD's inside DCS VR. They are a little smaller, I think about an inch too small, but i dont really notice. I just added a bunch of hot glue on buttons or made custom button surfaces so I can feel which button I am pressing. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
Hansolo Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 The Thrustmaster MFD's are IIRCC build after the F-16's and are pretty close to spot on in outer dimensions. Cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
DDSSTT Posted July 13, 2018 Author Posted July 13, 2018 Han, right they are modeled after the F16s at (5 1/2 in - 14 cm) but the measurements I've seen of the F18s DDIs are closer to (6 1/4 to 6 3/8 in - 15.8 to 16.2 cm ) and the AMPCD closer to (7 1/2 to 7 3/4 in - 19 to 19.6 cm) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/

DDSSTT Posted July 14, 2018 Author Posted July 14, 2018 Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, and I like where it's going... but I am a person who needs the tangible feeling of a switch/button. Also, being able to know where a switch/button and being able to hit it without taking my eyes off the HUD like setting gear down/hook/flaps/fuel probe... etc is not something possible with the current generation of motion controllers, touch pads, and captoglove... they all require you so look at the object you want to press or have it at least in your field of view or else you might think you are putting the gear down but you are actually about to jett your canopy. DDSSTT Posted August 16, 2018 Author Posted August 16, 2018 Finished 99% of Phase 3.... just need to get the last part of the UFC finished, 4 pot axis for volume 1/2, HUD/UFC brightness which will go on the right side of the UFC. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
