I can confirm with one other the frames are poor on the ground in pit, I found MFCDS off and 15K in height i had better fps, However turning on MFCDS on the frames stayed up, Other guy tried the A10C with no frame hits.

Great weapons systems tho

I can confirm this issue. So far only tested in a clean mission without any other aircraft.

Same here, low FPS in the 30s a lot in the cockpit. But not always and not in third person view either, just cockpit.

In some cases i get over 100 fps in third person but only 30 when i switch inside the cockpit.

Are you all using the quick missions or creating new ones?

The framerate in cockpit view is very bad in both the Instant Action missions, and in missions we create ourselves.

I did some testing, and found that it is related to lighting. I had a very hard time reproducting exact conditions, but flying into the sun and away from the sun causes dramatically different framerates (90 fps in VR when the sun is not illuminating the cockpit panels, and down to 12-15 fps when it is).

Our squadron did a night attack mission tonight, and we noticed normal framerates after the sun set, but back to a horrible 12-15 fps when we turned on NVGs.

Same here. Were online with 2 other mates, and we all noticed worse fps in Harrier. Quickly jumped into the Mirage - same mission and location, and all was good.

Facing direction A, and fps would be 90, and then face direction B, and it would plunge sub 40. Couldnt really find a pattern myself, but Ill try what Elysian noticed.

We were flying up in the Krymsk area. All 3 in VR.

Bit of a tough one this Zeus. I can't pinpoint exactly what's causing the issue.

I started the 'Free Flight' mission 3 times in a row. The first time the fps was below 30 but after about 30 seconds it climbed back to 60. The second time it started at 60 and stayed there. The third time it stayed at about 30 and didn't budge.

If I choose the 'Cold Start' mission I get sub 30fps and it doesn't go up until I take off. And even then it'll still randomly drop.

It's definitely something in the Harrier Cockpit though because in external view I get solid 60fps. Not sure what it is though because it's occurring both in the air and on the ground cold and dark, so it's not an active system. What's interesting is that the NAVFLIR doesn't seem to have any effect at all on my fps.

My specs are;

i5 4690k

Nvidia 1070

24Gb RAM

DCS graphics options are;

All textures set to very high.

Shadows set to low and terrain shadows to flat only.

Visibility range medium.

Water low.

Civ traffic off.

HDR on.

DoF off.

AA 4x

Antistropic filtering 16x

I have no mods running, and in every other aircraft I generally get around 60fps in 1.5

I have same probs as Solid84. 60 fps in every other plane except harrier

Me too (15-20 fps with a 1080TI)

I'm flying since 1988 (Flight Simulator 3.0) :pilotfly:

Yes same here. Low fps in cockpit in harrier. External views are fine.

Just to see if this work. Try turning VSYnc on if you had it off.

tried this a while ago I wouldn't say it was a FPS improvement in terms of my FPS indicator but it seems to run smoother and got rid of some stutters.

Vsync was already on for me.

Noticed in the Sidewinder Quick Mission overall it seemed a bit better, but still slower. When placing the Harrier on the Tarawa and flying around it it gets even worse.

Vsync didn't help here but I noticed that re my fps, in the provided free flight mission, heading north along the coast I'm getting some choppy 30 fps in cockpit view (also from tearing). But when I am past the town and turn around to SW I get between 70 and 120 fps, depending on how much scenery or sky is in view. Weird! Same thing on the ground, low fps throughout.

Ok. That is interesting.

VSYNC didn't change anything for me.

I realize in my previous tests, I had to change the starting position of the Harrier.

If I'm at Sukhumi, and start from the ground facing 0° or 90°, I have 30-40 FPS, apparently the time of the day doesn't change anything, I even tried at night. Facing 180° or 270° I get 60 FPS.

That's pretty weird. Is the compass acting up? ;)

EDIT: shall we triangulate to see the source of the problem?

EDIT2: takeoff from ground facing 90, on a road West of Senaki, it's even worse, down to 20 FPS.

Same here with low fps ...

Can it be related to DMT or FLIR camera?

Also fps is about 45-50 in F2 view.

You know this does make sense.

.... i usually get dip in fps when i turn mirrors or TV in Frogfoot on.

But there is no dip in fps in harrier...

Like if it is rendering that flir all the time even when not turned on.

I've been told that Senaki is a FPS sink no matter what aircraft. We will edit the mission.

This does not seem to be a airfield issue. I have a scenario setup where I can choose a variety of aircraft that all take off from the same runway (in this case, Kutaisi). When I choose something like the A-10C, the MiG-21, or even the Mirage 2000, I get no framerate issues at all regardless of where I am in relation to the runway or the surrounding towns. When I hop into a Harrier slot at that airport (right after trying other aircraft slots), I get significant framerate issues.

Here are some things I have observed.

1.) On the ground (immediately upon occupying the aircraft), I get mostly smooth framerates when looking everywhere in the cockpit except the center console/HUD. In that area, I will get a noticeable drop in framerate.

2.) When flying at high altitude, I get notice no real issue with FPS. I was able to fly for extended periods at 20,000 feet or more without problems. When I dive back towards the deck, I notice that as I get closer, the framerate becomes more inconsistent.

3.) Sometimes the framerate will be absolutely fine while a second later (with no significant change in surroundings or state of aircraft), the framerate will drop significantly for a time and then go back to a normal framerate a bit after.

4.) Turning off VSYNC seems to have made things run slightly better on the ground but not to the point where the issue is fixed.

I have tried flying out of different airports and have had pretty much the same result. Areas that are sparsely populated will see the same intermittent (and dramatic) framerate drops as densely populated areas. It seems to be more severe in dense areas but further testing is required on that front to be absolutely sure.

As stated before, this does not occur in any other aircraft. I can fly anywhere in the map with a Mirage, Fishbed, or A-10C and encounter no framerate issues at all.
