With the new updates, for me, VR performance is finally back...

...I almost lost hope, but now everything is magically back to ASW 45FPS fluency in release and in alpha...

Great work!!!

Same bad performance applies for version 2.2 when it comes to AI units in singleplayer campaigns. Playing the F-5 Aggressor campaign still gives me 17-25 fps on startup of the aircraft on Nellis when looking ahead, where all the AI aircraft are parked. Same bad performance as before in version 2.1.

Normandy map is slightly better than before. But if this is all we can expect for version 2.5, I will be rather disappointed.

I must join a server today, and see if I suffer from that performance issue, I see reported frequently these days, cause when I play online with a friend (in 2.2), me as host, the performance is really good. The best its been since 1.56/2.05.

That said though, I have since 1.57 pretty much disabled anything moving. All AI are stationary, only ones moving, is airborne, and not many of those.

Only time I had horrendous performance, was when adding several WWII Air defense assets. Not sure if it was Bofors or Flak causing it, or both. But I had to reduce the amount to get it smooth again.

Like the OP, in SP, my performance in VR has also been very good. Ended up pushing up the super-sampling to 1.5 as my system currently has that much available performance. (1080, i5 2500, 24GB ram).

I have PD always set at 1.5. SP is flying smooth for both 1.5.8 and 2.2. I also jumped on a server last night (with the Harrier). Had no stuttering issues, (I managed to dodge an inbound shoulder launched SAM). :-)

I'll try a couple other MP servers to check further.

MP is also a no go for me. FPS seems ok in SP, but Ive got a annoying stuttering/ghosting coming on every now and then.

Performance is certainly better than ever in 2.2.

Still, playing the Epsom campaign, I need to turn the settings down quite a bit and still don't get the frames I want. Stutters a lot even with low settings.

Doesn't help either, that with the gunsight bug the Spit is unplayable with ASW on.

Hrmm what servers are you guys having issues with, I've been doing MP with very little issue since 2.2 came out. Tried some AO last night, some F99 normandy too no issues. I've been on F99 (both servers), my own servers (not empty), plenty of things, no issues.

1.5.8 is a VERY different beast than 2.2 in Multiplayer

2.2 & 1.5.8 VR Performance!!! Well done ED!!!

1.5.8 runs like * in VR for me, 2.2 runs pretty damn well (takes a century to load up in a server the first time and when I spawn in I don't have a plane for 30 seconds, but it eventually loads).

That's why I'm not even bothering with 1.5.8 anymore.

I swapped out the 980ti in my VR rig for the 1080 in my daily rig the other day and performance in VR is better but still not wonderful by any means. I don't put DS on because I prefer the AA instead and maintain a solid 45fps at Vegas strip with fairly moderate to high settings. With DS on it drops into the 30's which is unacceptable.

1.5 though at Sochi is harrible. 22-45fps with nothing going on. Some places in 1.5 are very fluid like Tbilisi and other places like Sochi are just terrible for no apparent reason. I have my eye on a 1080ti and will sell my 980ti but not sure how much performance that will give me particularly for that ridiculous $750.

I only play Caucasus, so 2 questions:

Is 1.5.8 better than 1.5.7 in performance?

and

Where do I get it and how do I install it?

Posted

Actually performance in 2.2 is much worse for me in MP versus 2.1 and 1.5.8. I can only get 40 fps when I look up. Otherwise it's 30 fps or less. I would say it's borderline playable. I tried updating to the latest video drivers with no change. Doesn't seem to matter which airplane I fly either.
