Yes so some of these things are on the roadmap, i.e. they are planned for coming updates.

Radio tuning with Select you can also do with easy comms off: enable the 'Select Tunes Radio' setting in Preferences.

Hey Hollywood!

 

Things finally settled down yesterday with all keybindings intact and the AI RIO working. While you have done a fantastic job again, I really feel the need to emphasize once more that an option for both AI RIO and the Jester Wheel is, IMHO, sorely needed.

 

While VAICOM works very well for me and me being rather fluent in english, I am still no native speaker and from time to time voice recognition will fail me. Even with lots of training and custum recorded pronunciations it will still happen, trust me on that.

 

With the regular comms menus this is not too bad - on one hand, it's mostly stuff you don't need *right now* in a heated combat situation, on the other hand I am still able to keep the regular comms menus bound to my keyboard as a backup for those situations where voice recognition fails.

 

With the AI RIO, both the importance of voice commands as well as the possible problems of a failed voice recognition rise proportionally, and failing to have Jester perform essential tasks in A-A combat will be felt.

 

On top of that I am not a big fan of the "Select" function in Vaicom. This may be subjective, so please take that with a grain of salt, but I am a friend of turning dials to tune in an ATC etc., and not just tell my plane to do something which it can't in real life. Similar situation with Jester: I want to be able to tell him which frequency to punch in manually, not just select something. Also, and here is my non-native-speaker problem again: my pronunciation of ATC names of the Caucasus region vastly differs from what voice recognition expects.

 

In conclusion: while I understand it from reasons of immersion, I feel the Jester Menu Wheel is sorely needed as an *option*, and at a high priority.

While I really enjoy AIRIO for the startup and quick commands, I'm struggling to set up more complex things with Jester now.

With the traditional Jester wheel you can see the important information in the hub of the wheel,

such as current TACAN or radio channel, but also selected bomb type, ripple quantity etc. etc.

You always see what your backseater is doing. IMHO, this is very important when flying with AI

 

Using both input methods in parallel would be much more comfortable for me..

And for pilots who prefer pure immersion... well, they can just leave the "enable Jester wheel" tick box blank, right? :)

Same here, to have both will not hurt but I assume it is technical limitation currently, I don't see other reason to have it completely off.

 

I tested it in a combat yesterday and it worked just fine, surely can be better but with practice when the commands become more intuitive it will work flawlessly. I have played with scan ranges, scan elevations and azimuth and the STT options and it is recognizing well.

 

@Hollywood_315, However I noticed an issue, when you tell him to scan range 400, he gets stuck and if followed by scan range 100 he tries to STT, to get him back to work, I told him to scan range 50.

 

What I would like to have(and probably why the wheel option is also good to have as backup)

 

1. Be able to input manual waypoints

 

2. Tell him to Set V/UHF radio known mission frequency, pretty much same as the wheel functions like "tune radio to texaco"

 

3. Set TACAN channels and switch between x/y for tuning Tankers and carriers. TACAN is pain to operate with the mouse right now in VR so I was using RIO for that purpose quite often.

 

4. Hot mic, hope to have it soon, pressing the ptt is a bit annoying and really slow, which become an issue in combat, sometimes when you hurry you clip the messages and recognition fails

 

 

5. INS align commands, as I don't want to wait for full alignment always. Sometimes I just go to startup, lunch, do some tanker practice and some traps, so I just interrupt the alignment as soon as I get the diamond symbol.

So, how can you even select the full alignment? As long as we have no Jester wheel and no keyword to select one alignment type or another, we won't be able to fly mission from ramp start..

He starts the full alignment without asking him as soon as you start engines and disconnect the air supply.

Nice then, at least we can ramp start till further choices are available.

I am at a loss. I cannot get this AIRIO to load. I have the latest version of both Viacom Pro and Voice attack, I have deleted and reinstalled the software twice, I have deleted and reinstalled the AIRIO extension into the Extension folder several times. Viacom Pro says the extension is activated but when I go into the EX tab it is still giving me the message "AIRIO.DLL not being loaded!"

In F14, with easy comms on, and PTT transmit TX4, DCS understand my voice command, since I see the subtitle of my order in screen, but nothing happens; but the same order via take 5, take 1... works.

 

For example, I say "stennis, inbound". My sentence shows in the upper left corner on the screen, but nothing happens, silence. But if I say "options, take 5, take 1", works and stennis answer back.

 

In F18 module works without problem.

 

And talking about something else.. please, another that wants ARIO with wheel on screen ;-)

Updated for spanish guys the VAICOM diccionary with new ones in Spanish for the Jester RIO (and ICEMAN). 1020 sentences. Will appear in user downloads area when a moderator allows it. Search for VAICOM word.

 

Please allow the option to show the wheel menu. Many times we forget what we have to say.

Hmm, so I try to do a startup, when it asks for "Intercom Check" and I respond with "CHECK", it seems to work with a text message on the screen but Jester doesn't seem to do anything.

 

Anyone else see this.

Intercom check you have to answer "loud and clear" he asks you if you hear him well, or checking the intercom for operation :)

Are you talking about in the editor? I did try to do that but it didn’t seem to be doing anything.

If the finish button is orange, then you will have to press it and follow the procedure for adding lines in the editor. It took a while, but you have to actually do the complete procedure of deleting and pasting the commands as stated in the box that opens when you click the finish button. Good luck.

Ok that makes sense. I figured that would’ve been a standard part of the software since it’s not free. Thanks I’ll try that.

Hi there,

 

 

I have an issue where I am hearing Chatter etc. and voice attack/Vaicom recognise my commands however when I get a reply (say from ATC) I cannot hear it. The ATC reply can be seen in Voice Attack but I can't hear it. I have tried both methods to fix this as suggested in video - removing export.lua and using 'custom DCS path' but still hearing nothing in response. Any ideas or do I just go for a reinstall?

 

 

Any help would be hugely appreciated as this is an amazing piece of software :-). I only just bought it 2 nights ago and it is superb :-)

Since i have updated VA and VAICOM and got the AIRIO asap, i get the "radio is not in use for this aircraft or turned off" dudum sound and the confirmation "beep" whenever i press my mic switch to talk to VA. Thats very anoying. Anyone experienced that too?

could anyone elaborate about the other languages plug in? can I speak now Spanish and the app would recognize the commands?
