VAICOM PRO plugin for VoiceAttack

@Tundra If you have an existing install you can just replace the existing VAICOMPRO.dll with the new one from the download.

@bonedust Keyboard shortcuts have to be enabled in VA (the keyboard icon) and the VAICOM PRO profile must be loaded.

 

@redtail Chatter now links to radio power. Enable chatter and go through a ramp startup sequence: you'll hear chatter come alive as soon as the radios are powered on.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I just started up the Hornet, turn on the Comm radio and never heard any chatter. Easy Com (off).

Please advise.

The Chatter function must be on in the plugin, in the Hornet the UFC must be powered on, to switch on a radio turn its COMM knob clockwise (this is not part of the auto sequence).

Chatter starts when a radio is active. To check: when switched on, the radio color will change from dark to light grey on the PTT page and when you press its PTT key you hear the squelch sound.

i tried to import the F10 menu from the Throug the inferno mission, but i can't get it to work ?

 

i have;

-ticked the ''import f10 menu" in the configuration window

-flown the mission (manually used F keys to start some missions)

 

and folowed these steps;

• [PRO] Import F10 Menu: adds mission F10 (Other) menu items to the keywords database.

Enable this option and fly the mission: items are added as new keywords starting with ‘Action’.

Go to the Keywords Editor and follow the FINISH steps to update the VA profile to use the new

voice commands: using an imported keyword will execute the menu item command.

 

but my database ends up with same amount of keywords?

Did all of that but still no joy. Comm1 & 2 are working fine. I can request startup, taxi, takeoff, etc and get positive response from ATC. I can hear squelch from VC Pro as well as the cockpit radio when I press the button on the UFC next to squelch.

 

Chatter only becomes active when I give a vocal command to VC Pro. Either in a cold or hot cockpit. However, chatter does not automatically initialize for me when I power up the radios.

Because it doesn't do that by itself (unless you have 'start chatter automatically on plugin startup' switched on).

Also just to check: running the Garmin NS340 by any chance?

Yes sir. Tried both ways, chatter on auto as well as manually prior to entering mission. Results=chatter heard regardless of Comm radio state.

 

No, I do not have the Garmin module. Just tried a ramp start in the A-10C, with the same result. Chatter is either always on, or always off.

Hi. Been using Viacom for some time and an excellent programme.

After the latest update (22/8) Viacom has stopped communicating with DCS.

Everything seems to work with hotas and Voice Attack, messages are recognised but no response from DCS. No voice and radios do not come on with appropriate frequency.

Any suggestions appreciated. Really lost without this excellent programme.

Did you get to the bottom of Redtail's issue with the lua for the chatter issue he has had? If so, have you got the solution as I too don't have the chatter when fire up the radios. Did what you suggested to him and tried other aircraft but still the same result. I have to manually start chatter and auto start is not on.

Same here. Rolled back to previous and did manual .lua install and all except automatic chatter works again. Seems current version has a bug.

Hey guys. Not a bug in current version, it's just the standard recipe again: get the latest plugin version, and CAREFULLY inspect the five lua files from manual page 33 if you get no response in DCS.

 

Remove all VAICOM code blocks ( there could be doubles left from previous installs) and restart VA. Alternatively remove the lua files completely and run a DCS repair.

 

Redtail got his chatter fixed, also using the above steps.

I did not need to mess with luas or anything else.

 

Latest chatter also works.

 

Excellent programme which just makes flying so much more imersive.

VA generates this error at your startup

Unable to enable speech recognition. Make sure your mic is plugged in and enabled through sound properties.

 

This prevents the plugin from launching normally. You'll need to check your Windows control panel for speech reconition and make sure that a working mic device is set up for it.

Once that error is out of the way VA should boot OK and the plugin auto-installer can do the rest.

 

BTW your plugin version is not the latest, get 2.5.4 here

So the issue I was experiencing with commands not going to the intended target seems to occur at version 2.5.2 and after, if you've done a clean install of the plugin. I had to start with 2.5.1 and update directly to 2.5.4 to get everything working as intended.

I have an issue. its seems like when I do a DCS replay, it's calling the comms menu according to thins blinking during live play.

Separate issue:

 

For some reason, I can't contact the Stennis 127.5 FM (or any other freq) via VA/VC. In the mission editor, I have manually set the ships frequency.

Still no luck. Is this a bug?

@redtail Perhaps related to the new beacon (BCN) function that serves as a data interface heartbeat.

I'm looking into a potential bug atm where in certain circumstances (JTAC, ATC,..) it seems this can interfere with easy comms off.

Working on a solution and will come back on it.

Aside from the update download, It went to the wrong directory, I'll fix that later. Here is the complete issue, with a mic hook up, same problem I've had from the start.

 

 

My set up RAID 0,

C:\ is the root directory with saved games under my Microsoft sign in.

H:\ is my SSD game drive " I have DCS world, DCS Beta etc under Eagle Dynamics root directory.

If you notice the program can not find my DCS World to connect with Viacom pro even though Voice Attack is on the same H:. The only time I got it to partially work was when I did a technical manual install. Since DCS World updates every two weeks or so, things have become rather complicated to say the least. How can I get this program to acknowledge my Dcs install and hook up. I absolutely love it when it works.

Replace your vaicompro.dll with the latest download from the website (2.5.4) and try again.

Make sure VA is running as administrator (check the Compatibility tab in VA's shortcut properties).

 

The plugin uses Windows registry to automatically determine the DCS install paths.

DCS version updates over time have not always kept the Windows Registry entries valid: have a look at post #805 and onwards for some useful ideas on workarounds for that.

Ok sounds good. I guess in the interim, I'll have to call up the boat via the menu system (yuk):lol:

 

Sometimes when trying to contact the ship, I'll hear my pilot call some weird name that doesn't appear to be an actual airfield on the map.
