Hey guys!

First post (total DCS noob) and just getting started with DCS from IL2 BOS. Honestly, totally different sim for me, it feels much more like a simulator and i love the graphics on Open Alpha.

The default Spifire engine sound was the first thing I noticed that left me a little disappointed as I was not able to really hear changes in the engines performance well flying, so I am definitely looking forward to this MOD sound update.

How are these installed? Drag and drop, or must we use an installation app of sorts?

You can either use JSGME. But if you're not sure of that you can unzip then drag and drop into your main DCs directory. Just look at the way the download has been structured in terms of folders and do the same. And allow the new files to overwrite. Might be worth backing up your effected folders first if your unsure. It's well worth doing.

OVGME (http://www.ovoid.org/ovgme/) is far easier to use in my opinion, And built by one of the DCS forum users.

Keep in mind that any mods that overwrite some default game files (like in this case) get "broken" after every DCS update (as the patch installer performs a sort of file integrity check). Not different to other games really.

For this reason, although this mod has a folder structure prepared for drag and drop, it's easier to use it (and all other mods) via any popular, external mod enabler (JSGME, OvGME). Then It's drag and drop too, but into enabler folder rather than main game folder.

Also, because of partial filesharing between DCS modules, the side effect of using this mod is getting partially corrupt sounds in other planes, so it's good to have a possibility of simple turning mods on/off with a few clicks, that's what mod enablers are for.

This is why ED should seriously consider including Jafa's sound mod as a standard sound file for the Spitfire IX.

It's awesome and really brings the old girl to life.

Great work Jafa

Just wanted to come back again here and tell that this mod is still one of the main reasons I enjoy flying the Spitfire.

Are there any plans to return with gun sounds like for the P-51 (which are also utterly brilliant btw)?

Hope to see more work from you in the future

Just so you know (I'm sure you do) the gun sounds for the Spitfire have been modded very well already by Rlaxoxo. To the point, where I'm honestly not sure much progress can be made from where he's gotten the Spit's guns. I suppose if you ask him, your engine and his gun sounds can be put into a Spitfire Sound Pack or something. If there is area for major improvement, however, keep going.

I would especially like to see some more refined sounds for the Mustang's weapons. ;)
