Deezle Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) Supposedly it was nearly done when the Viggen was first released, yet here we are... From 1-22-17. We're hoping to have the Eng cockpit ready for launch on Friday; but worst case scenario it gets added in the very first patch or so. Cobra847 Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 The reason that this was put on the backburner was due to the lightning quick user mod that was put up. I know it's not ideal, but we felt that focusing on resolving core issues was a better priority. Will focus on getting this done in Q1. Sephyrius Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Just as a note though as someone who shies away from mods as well, custom cockpit labels are really quite easy to add, non-intrusive and well integrated into the options menu. That and skins are the only things I've ever dabbled with.
thrustvector Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 yea, for me I bought a Swedish plane, so like it the way it is, adds character, plus you learn the systems anyway, so what the label says is moot really
Horns Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 yea, for me I bought a Swedish plane, so like it the way it is, adds character, plus you learn the systems anyway, so what the label says is moot really I just wish they'd inscribe AFK in full on the AFK handle. Every time I got into the plane I'd laugh until I cry when I read "Austomatisk Fart Kontroll". Modules: [A-10C] [AJS 37] [AV8B N/A] [F-5E] [F-14] [F-15E] [F-16] [F/A-18C] [FC3] [Ka-50] [M-2000C] [Mig-21 bis] [Afghanistan] [Cold War: Germany] [Iraq] [Kola] [NTTR] [PG] [SC] Intel i9-14900KF, Nvidia GTX 4080, Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master X 64GB DDR5 @ 6400 MHz, SteelSeries Apex Pro, Asus ROG Gladius 3, VKB Gunfighter 3 w/ F-14 grip, VKB STECS throttle, Thrustmaster MFD Cougars x2, MFG Crosswind, DSD Flight Series button controller, XK-24, Meta Quest 3
deephack Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 What's wrong with just using a mod if you really want English labels? As there has never been an export version of the Viggen I'm perfectly happy to work with the Swedish. Till/från isn't too hard to figure out ;-) https://www.youtube.com/user/deephack
JIMJAM Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 When I see english pit I will buy it within 30 minutes.
thrustvector Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 yea I still never understand the reason for always wanting English labels, I know if the plane was used elsewhere it probably had the country's origin, but in effect we are buying the Swedish plane, so it looks more authentic, plus surely you learn the switches not what's written on them. its the same thing with auto start....I don't get that either, were playing a sim....not a game :) still each to his own :)

Being unable to vocalize, the difficulty in memorizing words using a different alphabet and not having the faintest clue to even guess their meaning makes things a whole lot harder.

I can learn the switches fine when I am flying a particular module with high frequency... however, as I switch between modules quite often, that memory workload gets quite high.... the english textures go a very long way in jogging memories and establishig what panel I am looking at. Vitormouraa Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 I remember asking the same question over a year ago during a livestream (22/01/2017) and Nicholas said it was on the top of the list. But it doesn't seem to be the case honestly. Over a year ago. SplashOneGaming Discord https://splashonegaming.com

Cobra847 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 I mentioned this in another thread: but we're revamping the cockpit shortly to reduce the number of drawcalls used by the cockpit as a whole. This will improve rendering performance. We need to finish this process first before offering a secondary livery. Rudel_chw Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 I haven't tried it but there is an English cockpit mod. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2400126/ Actually, this is not a Mod in the traditional sense, its a livery for a custom cockpit .. it doesnt touch the program’s files and it doesnt need a Mod Manager like OvGME, you just select it on Options -> Special. I tried it and works fine on 2.5, but I actually prefer the cockpit in swedish to better match the Manual :) Cheers For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

sc_neo Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 @Cobra ...great to hear the english cockpit is coming afterall. Devrims english cockpit mod works super fine, kudos to him! Still, its always good to have a nativ version by the actual developers. Simply for the reason that DCS is in constant change and mods might not get updated for various reasons at some future point in time.
chief Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Hey guys. I am not getting this. Some of you seem to have the English cockpit and then the last post says this...".great to hear the english cockpit is coming afterall". So which is it? Is it available or not? For me it isn't. I go to the special tab and the only selection I have available is DEFAULT. I am confused
Devrim Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Hi Chief. There's no official EN cockpit yet. Cobra explained the reason and process, in previous page. And what some of people have the EN cockpit mod was made by me last year. You can find it in the User Files. It may be a nice and temporary solution until official release. Quip Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Please don't call it "W", but let it remain "B". You could very well say "break point" in English, and M for "Marked" and U for "up". So please let the LS, B, U, M, L remain untouched. It's so confusing when half the flight has the "English" cockpit and say "W" and half have the Swedish and say "B".
