104th Phoenix - Operation Longbow - Dynamic PvP Mission

I'm usually in a ka-50 (although not this name :) on 132.00. Yet to hear anyone...I know SRS works because I also fly the Huey on occasion and there is always someone there. I probably could get on TS, but people tend to forget brevity unless it feels like real radio comms from within the bird. Can't stand a lot of banter when cussing the 50s autopilot in my head lol.

As far as the mission, I'm glad it's not fair, I'm glad I get my ass handed to me by a 120 from a 15 if I fly like an idiot. The more real life the better. Everyone today wants fair and easy, well life ain't fair and certainly not easy buttercup.

Making a mission ain't fun with the DCS editor, I tried it along with MOOSE to make a dynamic mission and everything broke with an update and I haven't felt like figuring out what broke...so you'll not find me complaining about what the 104 guys do, If it's fun and challenging I'll jump in, if not well there are other servers to try. But I can tell you, it can take hundreds of hours of work most of the time to get it just right if you value your work.

The only thing I'll put forth as an idea is maybe placing some strategic targets in like factories, fuel depots, power plants etc way back behind the lines to give some long strike options in, maybe far enough to require a refuel to complete. Not sure if the destruction of said facilities could have an effect on resources at the fixed coalition airbases with the ME supply chain function, I played with it a little but not sure how good it is.

But, thanks to the 104th for the fun you have provided it is much appreciated.

With my Ka-50 on the 104th server, I go behind their lines, often. If you see my username in game, expect it.

Got to fly low and stealthy. I start-out a back base. Don't fly predictable.

Love popping aircraft as they takeoff!! LOL!!

As to TS3 or SRS I find for my needs, both are useless. BTW---SRS >>> Red---GCI is 125.0 AM .

Since 104th does not lock sides, guys switch for the intel and Blue guys do monitor Red guys radio chatter---I have witnessed it.

What if a guy has 2 separate PC systems? What's to prevent playing both sides simultaneously ??

__________________________________TEAM-KILL >>> AGAIN !!

PO's me big time.

Start out Gali in copter. Our supply vehicles are dead. Fly to Kobuleti to arm and refuel.

Off to target area outside Kutasi. Red owned both on March 28th daytime ops.

Just saw the only Blue guy on get popped by our SAMs. (I ALWAYS check the F10 map 1st to see who owns what before going out and about.)

Before I even eject, I see the Red guy's username pop-up in Chat that he got kicked and no Blue guy gets credit for the kill.

WTF ! Has to be a deliberate kill.

I only fly mostly your server, but seems to be an issue on the 104th server.

I rarely, if ever do a team-kill.

I fly pretty much the same, I'll hit the resources at back FARPs so they have to fly to another location to rearm/refuel and slow them down even more if the frontline farps aren't available.

125, yeah I asked what channel everyone on Red was using and was told 132 which is ground ops, so that's where I went...but will do 125 next time.

There will always be spies on both sides in any game, stream snipers you name it. Not much you can do about it. Not sure how SRS works on the server side and preventing radios from blue aircraft accessing certain channels and vice versa, but that wouldn't as you say stop anyone from using another PC, etc. Probably better off just picking a flight group channel for tactical/sensitive comms and listening in to GCI on occasion, or lone wolf it with it's benefits/downsides.

I don't fly red, so can't speak specifically for that sides SRS comms...but I know that 95+% of the time everyone on Blue just uses GCI frequency like it's TeamSpeak. Everyone is apparently too lazy to change frequencies as the briefing suggests. Very, very few people use the ATC frequency to announce takeoffs (instead we have to hear some guy call out he is on finals 08 Kutaisi, or he's taxiing at Senaki, when when we are trying to talk to another guy about how we coordinate so we don't get shot down by the Flanker 7 miles away). Similarly, it's very rare that people actually use the A2G freq for coordination of strike attacks, instead they clutter A2G comms over top of guys coordinating A2A cap engagements, while others still call their ATC calls and step on the other comms. Frustrating as hell, but...

One thing lacking with Op Longbow is a victory condition or 'endgame' once one side takes over the airfields, needs a 'well done red/blue has conquered all airbases and won the battle' kinda thing and a possible mission restart or cycle.

My Longbow entry routine has become this:

- Start and fly for some seconds the Caucasus Instant Action Mission of the aircraft type I will most probably choose first in Longbow, then exit to DCS Main Screen.

- Open Longbow in Mission Editor and "Fly" (let it run) from there for a couple of seconds, then exit to DCS Main Screen.

- Go to Multiplayer, choose own radio Callsign of the day (e.g. "RAPTOR | Shadoga", just to keep it diversified...) and then join 104th Server.

It might work quite as well if you ommit the first step "Instant Action", but basically each step is a preparation for smoother loading in the next step.

This way might take 2-3 minutes to get into the action as well, but it makes for Longbow loading times of less than 30 secs and no crashes for me once on the server.

Same kinda routine here, load up first in the ME then quit back to the main menu and i'm in the server within seconds no problem.

Reconnecting with the server without going back to the main menu does the trick for me

Ah, it was fun doing ATC(especially) and GCI (when the name tags were still a thing)

Do we get minimap with friendly and enemy forces placed around new bases like for the old ones (Kutaisi, Senaki, etc...). Don't want to shoot friendly ground units. Being blue player I assume the red forces are placed at the east(ish) side of the bases.

Looks like SRS has come out with a new version and is no longer compatible with the previous SRS version running on the server.

Updated SRS on 104th server to v1.5.0.0

Beautiful!

This requires a new install for all users, correct? My understanding is 1.5 is not backwards compatible.

Are the AI-gunners (side door & back door) implemented in-game on the 104th's server ?

If so, how do I turn them on?
