inexus
Celebrating the release of dcs 2.5 with a sale for only Steam? Please allow loyal dcs-standalone users to buy with the same discount. Agree. It's confusing as a customer how the two platforms are treated differently. I would love to buy the harrier, mirrage and Nevada with a 50% discount but since I pre-ordered the f/a-18 I am essentially stuck to the e-shop for any newer modules. Now I am wondering if I should ask to see if I can cancel my preorder... Mr_sukebe
Do steam keys work with non-steam? (I know it doesn't work the other way). I believe that most do, though I also believe that the Mirage and Harrier won't, which is a real bugger, as I'd like to buy the Mirage whilst it's on sale, but only use the ED downloaded version. Helles Belle
Thanks bignewy, So according to that page if we have a version of DCS World from the DCS e-shop (as I do) I cannot buy a module from Steam and use it (unless I download DCS World from Steam)? New Modules bought on STEAM from 12th May 2017 Please note from 12th May 2017 DCS: M-2000C and all future DCS World DLC releases on Steam, will now use Steam Keys instead of Starforce keys. As such, these purchases cannot be activated on the DCS World e-Shop version. Send lawyers, guns and money......... for the …. has hit the fan. dom1
Yeah it's mindboggling why it's steam only. Also I had to refund a dlc on steam because I was sent a used cdkey. I wonder how many others received cdkeys they can't bind on their account. Hopefully this starforce malware goes away for good.
Intruder_360
It works, i have bought one of the older module yesterday on steam. I just had to bind the key to my account and then i was able to load it with the module manager. For to get the key you have to add the dlc to your library, you are not need to install the game on steam. Idle_Wild
50% off on steam only? Can anyone explain the logic behind the sale on the modules being available to steam only? If I commit to steam I could have 50% off and pay only £26 for the harrier. If I want to buy it via the DCS website it's almost double that price. From the recommendations on the forum about getting direct access to releases and not having to wait for delayed steam releases it was deemed best to buy direct from the DCS website, this is starting to look like a mistake. Mr_sukebe
Right now, I also see no sense in it and I can't help but think that it's simply causing confusion for users. Just look at the number of forum threads raised by people looking for clarification on which modules could be bought on Steam and then used on the direct download. If it were possible to use modules bought on either site, on either platform, then it would be perfect. Definitely an "area for improvement", that has nothing to do with the technicalities of the game itself. mutumba
I have many steam games. But DCS and the addons I have bought them on the official website in order to all the benefits went directly to eagle dynamics. Now I see that I made a mistake ... Fri13
Now when ED has their on user account and module manager up and running, it should be possible to get their CD-key problem fixed with Valve by simply adding a third party account requirement where you can download the DCS World, buy the modules but you need to login to ED to bind the keys there. Just like how Ubisoft does it with the Valve and their UPlay service. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K. Gloom Demon
For reference - I have managed to bind the following compaigns bought from Steam to my E-Shop account: 1. Su-27: The Ultimate Argument Campaign 2. A-10C: Basic Flight Training Campaign 3. A-10C: Advanced Aircraft Training Qualification Campaign 4. A-10C: Operation Piercing Fury Campaign 5. A-10C: Enemy Within Campaign I hope this helps AMD Ryzen 3600, Biostar Racing B850GT3, AMD Rx 580 8Gb, 16384 DDR4 2900, Hitachi 7K3000 2Tb, Samsung SM961 256Gb SSD, Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X, Samsung S24F350 24'
dom1
It's easier if you look at the release date for the dlcs, everything before May 2017 (M2000 release) can be bound to the ED account, the rest can't.
Gloom Demon
Unfortunately, it appears it is not that easy: The release date is not a good indicator, as these are old campaigns but were recently updated for the new caucasus and ED took the oportunity to update their protection system. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3446166&postcount=8 AMD Ryzen 3600, Biostar Racing B850GT3, AMD Rx 580 8Gb, 16384 DDR4 2900, Hitachi 7K3000 2Tb, Samsung SM961 256Gb SSD, Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X, Samsung S24F350 24'
QuiGon
Unfortunately, it appears it is not that easy: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3446166&postcount=8 Just check on the steam store if the module has Starforce protection (see picture). If it has, then you can bind it to your ED account. cheap charlie
Ive stayed away from DCS and spend all my time with FSX SE. Reason being is all this nonsense ...I have modules that no longer show up and steam purchases that wont bind on 2.5 and add to that 2 year old support requests on DCS stand alone with replies saying we are to busy now but we reply soon and today I see those tickets closed with no further input from DCS If there is a more confusing way to purchase gaming modules over different platforms I would like to see it!
