cavalier889 Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I don't spend much time making comments on forums, but I thought this module deserved a couple thoughts. After the initial disorientation of seeing the cockpit, (I feel like my X-Plane crashed into my BMS 4.34, and then careened wildly through my DCS texture folders to rest in a new module selection) I find that this is about the slickest first release (patch one never counts) DCS plane I've ever had the pleasure of flying. I can see that this will be very relaxing after a session or two of wrestling the F-14 around the sky with Jester telling me how much I suck... Well done DIS! I look forward to all the tweaks and improvements.
shaHeen-1 Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Jester is the kind of guy who gets shot in the back out in the field. Where as you take the Chinese betty on a date. XD
Jester986 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Deka, Just wanted to say what an impressive module this is and I'm really looking forward to whatever you do next. I have my fingers crossed for a JH-7 but I'll be thrilled with a J-8 II or Q-5 also as I'm guessing those would be you most likely projects.
Mousie Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Is it possible if you can share any information on what additions you plan to add to the plane with the block 2 update? AAR, carrying capacity, and the CM-400 are listed among things like datalink, and while the 400 may not be possible, could we see things like a slightly bigger bomb loadout?
AeriaGloria Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 A larger bomb load out? It initially had a 3700kg payload cap then increased in software to 5000kg. You can overload it in the game but that’s not recommended. And what would a block II datalink be? The tactical SA datalink works through the software defined radio, so it only needed a software update to have the datalink functionality mentioned in block II promotions. One part of that was adding a third radio to handle the DL channel, while since ours is a software upgraded block I it only has two comm channels Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

As AeriaGloria says, there was a structural clearance increase for both block I and II. (not sure if those numbers are exact, but they seem pretty close to what I remember) So I dont think payload capabilities will change between Blk I and II. But that's just from what I have seen (and haven't). So likewise, I could be wrong, but I don't think Blk II will have any additional payload capabilities over Blk I in DCS.
Harlikwin Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 I mean, I get that we all want to carry more ordnance, esp the MP aeroquake set. But at the end of the day, the payload is what it is and I wouldn't want it changed for "gamey" reasons. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1) Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).
AeriaGloria Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Anyone know the difference between SAM and NAM while in RWS? It seems to be a F-16 thing, normal air mode, but ever since I got into DCS I’ve been bitten by the red bug:( Also anyone know if it’s intended to not be able to unlock after locking a target in ACM? Perhaps this another Viperism I am unfamiliar with? Checked the quick guide and chucks, can’t wait for the full manual! From what I read, the block 2 is able to equip two more dual pylons, along with stronger wings to support a larger carry weight. At least that's what details come up from the pakistan forums on the JF 17.
AeriaGloria Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Im Just not sure the wings are actually stronger. I always heard after structural load testing on one of the prototypes it was decided to increase max payload via software. I don’t have anymore of a concrete source then you though, so who knows Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
Airhunter Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 So whats the ETA on the JF's textures being finished (missile pylons textures as well) and more liveries being released?
AeriaGloria Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 (edited) Anyone else notice how the KG600 only ranges contacts in front or behind but not to the side? Feel dumb for only just now noticing. Always wondered why it could never range something I was beaming. It makes sense it’s easier to triangulate something if your moving towards or away from the radiation source. Now how to use this tactically, seems to be about 60 degrees as I see them ranged as soon as they enter my radar scan zone. Just for curiosity here’s a placard on its predecessor KG300, I wonder if it doesn’t do the ranging or if just suppossed to be under etc:) Edited January 23, 2020 by AeriaGloria Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
shaHeen-1 Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Is it just me or is that nose on the plane more pointy than normal?
AeriaGloria Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I think the sharpening is just really aggressive, like look at how straight the edge of the intake looks Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

NAM allows you to still move the azimuth gates with your cursor and adjust antenna elevation. SAM does not. The other question I have is - what's the difference between TWS SPT/DTT and RWS SPT/DTT. AeriaGloria Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 (edited) I am probably going to, having the one tank there on the wing will still make it dirty;) I bet there isn’t as many jammers as JF-17s, it was pretty recent addition. There’s so few photos of operational load outs we can’t really tell how common it’s used. I’m sure that’s to obfuscate current ops, it seems to be pretty SOP I know that’s the plan with AAR to be like Mirage having the probe removed and transferred among different units as needed. I’m just wondering if the use of F-7 tanks is still happening! shaHeen-1 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Maybe it will balance the jet with that slight left yaw? XD
AeriaGloria Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 @TB L00pb8ack confirmed it will effect drag so keep it off if you don’t need it. Will be very interesting tactically, those who leave it on prepared for any emergency and those that leave it off and make up for it with extreme planning. Shaheen, maybe gyroscopic precession or torque. Does it happen during any maneuvers or level flight? If anyone wants to figure out precession from rotation direction here’s pictures. I’m thinking it would push your tail right while pitching up Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
shaHeen-1 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 During climb the most obvious thing I've noticed is that the plane starts to pitch up slowly on its own.
