I fired up DCS this morning thinking the Persian Gulf map would not be available yet. The window popped up saying it was available to install so clicked "OK". It started the install but when it started to run the installed (after the permission window) it says it can't find the file or the terrain. It then reloaded DCS World automatically. The window popped up again and I closed it then went into the Module Manager. The terrain was available there with an "INSTALL" button so I clicked that with the same results.

Did you update DCS World first? There is an app 13GB update that needs to be done to the Open Beta prior to installing the map.

I had that thought. Normally it auto-updates. I sort of wish their auto-updater would work consistently. I don't mind manually updating but it's a bit odd that sometimes it checks for updates and finds them and other times it acts like there are no updates. If it doesn't tell us there is an update the expectation is there isn't one. Oh well. I'll give that a try. I'm certain it will work. Thanks.

It's configured so it only checks once in a specific time frame (maybe a day), so you can launch the game quickly if you launch it often in quick succesion. That's on purpose, although it does backfire now, as peopel have spammed DCS to update before the update was available, and now the auto update is on "cooldown", so people launch without updating and go straight through to download the map...

You have to manually force the updater in this case.

Interesting and thanks for the insight. I had not fired up DCS is at least 12 hours but I suppose the earlier check had been within whatever window is set. Good to know for sure and I'll definitely remember to check for updates manually when I believe a new module is out. Thanks.
