volk-19 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 ECM blinking, is it real combat tactic or it is a bug in the sim, and we just made it up here? Some people support it and some people don’t. Is it real or it is going to be fixed one day?
GGTharos Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 'ECM Blinking' is a real ECM method. It doesn't work like 'ECM Blinking' does in LOMAC; IK puts it well :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
GGTharos Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 The people who use this are noobs/they just plain suck or that's the only way they can get kills. What they need to do is learn how to fly better and stop using this method. ... Or they'll use it and fly better than you anyway. I find it rather silly that people claim to have skills and then whine about this, and call the users unskilled. Get over it, it'll get fixed. Until then, you can shout up and down and villify all you want, but there's no control over it. Moreover there are things that are every big as bad and unrealistic, yet people seem to accept them. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Frostie Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 GG was just stating that there are more exploits in the game that people do but don't seem to care about, yet these same people are stuck on a whine about one particular exploit and they seem to believe they are the Dogs Balls pilots and those that use ECM blinking be it one turn on/off or a rapid flurry of finger pushes are inferior skill wise , thats where the wrong attitude is coming from , honestly you ain't all that.:D "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'. Force_Feedback Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Funny or not, on the real mig-29SE you have to wait for 4 minutes before the ECM system has done all the warming-up/checks/reconaissance, so you can flick that switch ever 0.00003 seconds, but it won't do squat. Comprare it with a bot that turns a semi-automatic weapon, say a Beretta pistol, into an auto fire weapon, well, using such thing with shooters will get you hardware banned... Pilotasso Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 The people dependent of exploits are going to have a hard time in BS. Even those who were used not to support their missile launches with the sensors, 10m exploiters, maddogers (regardless of wich missile) are all going to have reasons to complain themselves soon . .

cool_t Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 ECM Yaaa well? I dont use the ecm much, only for SAM launches. I have found that when you use your ECM in Combat people who did not see you now know exactly where you are. Good luck!! Cool T P.S. Gun Slinger

skinners Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 That explains why I lose lock erratically when playing online. Hell, I spent a week trying to figure this one out where a simple search on this forum would have been a lot more help. Way to go people. Kuky Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 skinners, that is not the only reason why someone might loose lock. and about that 4min ECM warmup for MiG-29S... that is just a load of bull. Where in the world do you find that information??? Just applying some basic logic here... who in the world would suply you with a counter measure sustem that takes 4min to start working? It would be fine if it takes 4min for IR jammers or anything else you are suposed to leave on for a while... but ECM definitely does not fall into this category :D PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
GGTharos Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 It might take some 4 min to warm up, but after that it's in standby ... basically it's ready to transmit at any moment it has to - so you control wether you want it in standby or auto - ie. do you want to flip the switch to jam yourself when there's a threat, or you want it to react automatically - that's my interpretation of it. Kinda like you have to spool up a jet engine but once its in idle you can do whatever with it. Gun Slinger Cheers for that, but now I might actually have to slew my radar instead of just turning it on to find bandits. Did they update the manaul recently and add ECM to start up procedures? is this ok?
Force_Feedback Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Oh, sorry for not replying sooner, I thought this had turned into some pissing contest. But yes, Iguana and GG are right, it's to let the high voltage system charge up, and after those 4 minutes the system is on receive only ('reconnaissance'), so yes it's the time for it to power up. After that you have 6 hours of jamming, well at least on the Su-27, don't know how much water the Miggie carries with it. ECM is not moddled thoroughly enough to be of any practical use against human oponnents, terrain masking is the best 'ecm' we've got in lomac, now that radars don't see through mountains. Against the AI it's great, especially for ground pounding. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:

Anytime Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 There is a REAL ECM Blinking technique (not pilot controlled) but is not fitted to the F-15C or Mig/Su as modelled in lockon. If ECM blinking is allowed then so should R77 on Su's!
Fudd Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I apologize for my ignorant post. 1 The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
