Nealius Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I'm looking to get more camera angles on the Stennis for cinematics and checked out the LSO mod that's floating around here since it has awesome LSO platform and Airboss bridge views. The only problem is the camera is fixed and I'm not able to pan with the mouse or TrackIR. Is there any way to unlock the Plat Cam via the .lua files?
delevero Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Hello This Virtual clan have made their own mod for the carrier, and I can see in some of the videos on this webpage that you with their mod can stand i the tower and look via. trackir or Vr... and also you can stand as the LSO officer near the edge of the carrier, and i guess maybe even walk arround a little bit... try watching some of these videos maybe you find what you look for. QuiGon Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 (edited) I think it is locked on purpose, so LSOs (or whoever observes landings through this camera) has the same picture every time and can tell if the plane is too far left(right/up/down). TonyG Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Has anyone else figured this out? I’ve got the Stingers mod installed, but on a monitor view, you can not look around. Viewing in VR is fine, but if I’m trying to record on my server with a monitor, I can’t reposition the camera except by editing the lua. 9800X3D, MSI 5080 , G.SKILL 64GB DDR5-6000, Win 11, MSI X870, 2/4TB nVME, Quest 3, OpenHornet Pit
HiJack Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 No, the PLAT CAM is a fixed view so the next best thing will be CTRL + F9. That will give a movable camera on the carrier.
pete_auau Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 so you need the mod so you get the cross hairs and box in the middle? when you press Lalt and f9

The LSO Approach camera is locked because it's used to gauge the pilots approach in the box. Can't do that if you are moving the box around. I saw a documentary long time ago, the LSO camera is coupled to a monitor in the pilot’s mess, so they can make notes and comments (and no doubt to put some incentive in their asses). It obviously was also considered highly entertaining in atrocious weather in a pitch dark night, the wing commander swapping places in the sortie with the (female) rookie, stating ‘you’ll understand when we return’ .. and then you hear the (really) heavy thuds of the jets returning (I think they were six) in extremely foul weather that got worse by the minute, and this wing commander coming in last - flying fumes because of all the bolters from the sortie - and the LSO cam showing the deck rising and falling 10 feet or so, and he - of course - made quite the mind-blowing silky trap .. | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
