Cdr.Instigator Posted May 7, 2007 Author Posted May 7, 2007 It's official by this video that he stalled his jet while trying to joing the formation.. His last seconds were recorded on this video. You can actually see him pulling too hard on the stick and stalling his jet. Look at Time: 1:30 sec. of the clip.. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ec1_1177580115 RIP
3Sqn_Sven Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 This vid doesn't show anything different to what was on CNN on the day it happened, and you can't see him "pulling too hard on the stick". 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region

Hellcat61 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Please explain how that rediculous video had anything to do with LtCdr. Davis' death? Spam. "When you're out of Tomcats, you're out of fighters!"

diveplane Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 looked like pilot error from the clip? ..jet goes into a deep turning stall... ...he was trying to turn the jet to tight and airspeed was very slow..., anyway this is the risks in this, these guys know this..RIP to the pilot who died.. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Rhino104 Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 While it may be around 2 months since the accident, this is still a very sore subject for some of us, and I would ask that in respect for his family, friends, and squad mates we steer away from the public guessing and speculations.
Cdr.Instigator Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 This has been dragged from the depths.... But, how can some of you not see that--- with all due respect for the family and co-pilots of this hero--- that it was pilot error. We all mess up flying our simulators every other day.. It causes us to loose our virtual life too. The last thing you want is to stall your aircraft and in this video it is clearly a stalled fighter heading for the ground.. He's a Hero in deed for staying with his machine and diverting it away from innocent people in the ground.. He's a hero for serving our country during War... He's a hero for serving with the Blue Angels. And He's a Hero for being a Damn Good American !!! But, He stalled his Fighter at the worst moment... Prayers go out to his still mourning family friends and kids..
golfsierra2 Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Pilot failed to compensate for G-forces Thought this might be of interest for some of you folks. Found it today while reading some papers at Glenbrook RAAF near Sydney (participating in Ex PITCH BLACK 08 ): The USN final report on the April 2007 loss of an F/A-18 pilot during a performance of the BA aerial demonstration team concluded the pilot failed to properly tense his muscles to counter the G-forces from a high-speed turn. "in his final turn to attempt to rendezvouz with the other Blues, he put a very fast, high-G turn on the aircraft. A real aggressive turn," Navy spokesman Cpt Jack Hanzlik said. The turn subjected the pilot to six Gs of force. The BA fly without G-suits. Source: DDAAFS Aviation Safety feedback, April 2008, page 9 kind regards, Raven.... Shaman Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Whoa, I've crossed this old news somehow, b000!!! I didn't know. He met one of these "oh sheet!" moments, and meeting his fate he was doing what he was born to do. His dream of flight is now twice as real, as he's gone now on the other side. Lived and died like a hero. Will remember him as that. v1per Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 (edited) @Golfsierra- Instead of posting that in this thread, you should have created a new one. This thread is depressing enough as it is and now we gotta see it again....comeon. @shamandgg- grow up and give Kojack better respect without the gaming language crap. @frazer- I feel the exact same way! As for this thread. LET IT FADE.....LOCK IT.:lock: Edited June 11, 2008 by v1per 1
159th_Viper Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 ^^^^^^ Creating a new thread that has info pertinent to the content already posted and indeeds provides 'closure' to a certain extent relevant insofar as the findings of the Investigation is concerned will in all honesty be superflous and would in all probability have been merged in any event - honestly do not see any vindication personally for a seperate thread. And to personally insult a fellow forum member for his use of the English Language in the manner which he elected to express himself and his sentiments (which I found to be above board and respectful for what it's worth).........I mean cm'on dude - where's the respect?:music_whistling: In any event - all that has been said has now been said and the thread would have in any event have faded into the backround without the need of the above unnecessary comments - IMHO of course............ golfsierra2 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 The accident was bad enough, I admitt. But on the other side I find it useful to provide the background information about why it happened, because this always is the question that come into mind when such an accident occurs. I still see nothing wrong in adding final information to this thread. I think it should be closed now. Case closed. kind regards, Raven.... Let people show their feelings as they want and spare your comments. No one have to behave like you'd like to buddy. He shows respect in his way and you shouldn't judge him - same to me for this post but I couldn't resist, sorry. Edited June 12, 2008 by Poko24 1
nscode Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Why do they fly without G protection? Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
borchi_2b Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 thanks raven for the final information on the crash, i really appreciate it, cause, damn yes the question comes to my mind when i think about this crash which is natural, at least when you are a noisy person like i am. we could say that it was destiny or that it was a technical defect or what so ever it might be that runs through our minds, there is one fact that will not be changable, that kevin davies is dead, like many other pilot died before him, cause it is a dangerous job they do, but to be honest, i rather die in a jet then in a bed when i turn 90 years old, have no sex no other cool stuff to do, cause i am tiered of life. Kevin you are a hero for many, cause you lifed the way you wanted to, and died unfortunatly while doing so. RIP, may there have been eagles that have guarded you into the other world http://www.polychop-sims.com
RedTiger Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Why do they fly without G protection? The anecdotal answer to that one is that it has to do with the center mounted stick on the F-18 cockpit. In order to do some of their manuevers, they are steadying their arm on their leg which allows them finer control over the aircraft. Apparantly a G suit gets in the way of this. This is also why I have heard that the Thunderbirds DO wear G suits -- the side position of the stick in the F-16 and the FLCS allow fine control with no problems while wearing a G suit.
