Alright guys,

I might have just found the solution of increasing fps.

With some help from guys over here :)

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3641390&posted=1#post3641390

Also a while ago I tweaked this config for DCS 1.5. It gave me 50% boost in performance.

It took me around 2 weeks of tweaking and playing with values including forums research.

I don`t recall all the adjusments that I`ve made.

But the wierd thing with this config, if I copy it in the way it is, it gives me alot of performance.

Although even if I change single value from game menu and save it, it ruins my fps by 50% (atleast in 1.5 it did).

Not if I do it though Notepad++. So if you want to adjust it, please only manually through Notepad++.

Haven`t tried in DCS 2.5

I have 2 configs for DCS 1.5 and in 2.5

Also important to disable your turbo boost at all costs.

Easy way to do it is shown in the screenshot below. Just change your values.

After that install this config and set Affinity to all processors on DCS.exe

UPDATED:

Graphics_Config_Tweak link(also important, backup your options.lua, graphics.lua and high.lua, options is going into Saved Games forlder structure):

http://www.oleg-kovalev.com/TransferCeption/DCS/VR_Fix/Graphics_Config_Tweak.rar

Disable Turbo boost easy way.

Fix.jpg

I hope it helps!

Let me know if it does help in your situation, I would be happy if it does :)

Atleast it`s a worth trying!

UPDATE keep cpu at 100% min/max in power management, disable Turboboost in Intel app and disable hyperthreading:

Thanks for sharing this mate. A couple of questions:

Why disable turbo boost?

How do you set affinity to all processes on DCS.exe? I think only have a DCS_updater.exe in 2.5.

Also, are you saying changing any in game settings can ruin the performance with this mod? or just specific ones?

Disabling turbo boost increased my performance.

In task manager go to Details, find DCS.exe (it shows only when you run DCS). Right mouse click on it and Set Affinity, select all cores.

Why disable turbo boost?

From my experience, it's not the TB which is the fault, it's the fact that your system only ramps up a core after it's under load.

The DCS thread (like any other) will jump from core to core, causing a low freq core to run the thread, by the time the system ramps up, the thread jumps again.

To really solve this you should enable "sync all cores" in the BIOS. It should be Available in most mid-tier+ mobos. This will cause the firmware to bump all the cores up to Max boost, once a single core is boosted. This way, when the thread jumps, the core is already ramped up.

Disabling TB will probably give you less performance then tuned TB, because you loose about 20% performance per core if not more.

UPDATE:

After disabling:

-CPU C States

-Hyperthreading

-Intel Virtualization Technology

-Intel VT for Directed

And setting cpu to 100% in min and max power settings, but disabling TurboBoost in Intel app, I`ve got even more fps than before.

OLD:

As you might see on my first screenshot, my cores where always at 100% load.

Here comes my bios image:

Anything wrong here?

Ryzen should also have some sort of hyper-threading I guess.

If you disable that and test, it might help :)

I see that Ryzen does have "Simultaneous Multi-Threading", try to disable that.

On my Ryzen, I left SMT on but used process lasso to force DCS onto even numbered cores only, which puts it only on physical cores and does not use logical cores. FPS stayed roughly the same but I had a marked reduction in stutters. This way I get the benefits of disabled SMT in DCS without losing those logical cores for other programs.

could you please give me some information on the performance on ryzen in Vr?What are your specs?Graphics settings? etc

thanks

i am planning to get a lenovo explorer but i have doubts.

last week end i tried the VR preset and the stereo mode (to mimic the VR left/right eye rendering) in dcs world with very bad results (fps under 45 in many cases) but i have a ryzen 2700x and 1080ti so for me it is strange to have a so bas result....also i tried to change the graphics settings just to understand how it works but strangely enough nor rising nor lowering changed much...with the usual settings i use i have satisfying results: only sometimes on the ground under 60 fps...for example in the hornet minicampaign i have between 70 and 130 fps (below 60 only on the carrier sometimes).

So i am worried about getting into VR

Haven’t done much testing, but what testing I did do revealed what seems to be a cap around 45fps that I can’t explain.

With ASW off, I turned all settings to lowest. Predictably, GPU usage was low, but I still capped at 45. It seems that’s the limit for the processor, though I think it should be higher.. What I ended up doing was ramping up GPU stressing settings for more eye candy, up to the point where I got near 100% GPU usage while still maintaining 45fps, thereby hitting the balance point.

With my 1080ti, I manage 4x msaa, 1.5pd, flat shadows, and most everything else on high less view distance, which is high I think (2 down from the highest)

I am happy with the quality, and 45fps is still generally smooth enough.

I have a Ryzen 1600x with the same problem. FPS capped at 45 even with ASW off. Can/ should I also mess around with turbo boost?

interesting.....this is something i really can’t explain...but basically from what i understand with 45fps and asw is quite playable..

Did you try kegets shaders mod?

With my 1080ti and i7 7800k I still get 45fps and nothing more. This sets the pixel density to 1 which isn't very good for the Odyessy. Is there anything else apart from th shaders mod and this which could help?

Really strange.... I am curious about if other Ryzer users are in the same situation. I will discover soon as I pulled the trigger on the Lenovo Explorer.... But other people experiences would be useful

The shaders mod doesn't give me extra performance. nor do a lot of the gfx settings. This makes me think that there is something else capping my FPS at 45. I only get 25-30 when I'm on the ground at a busy airfield, or escort 70 bombers.

The bottleneck is CPU, which the shader mod doesn’t help with.

Vulkan API will be the solution, when implemented.

Thanks! Any estimates? Like a couple of months or maybe years?

2 weeks :smilewink:

There’s a thread on it, this fall/winter has been tossed around, but you never know. They’re working on it!

i agree with you...but the strange thing for him is not the 45fps with ASW on...in that with ASW off he seems capped to 45...it should be oscillating between 45 and 60.....that is really strange

I’m in the same boat - capped at 45 with ASW off.

At least in my case, from analysis of my computer usage, I believe I’m cpu limited.
