Another question regarding hacking/modifying this phantastic training aid: Did anyone successfully add slots to the mission and would be willing to share experiences/hints? I already tried a bit, namely adding four F-14A slots, copying/editing the corresponding triggers and parts in the script as well. Once I load into one of the new slots I get a welcome message (init seems to work) with a newly generated callsign but the initial/break entry is not triggered. Any hints would be appreciated! Mu buddy and I have both had the same issue whereby partway through the start up, the wings will open ( without us making that happen) and smash into the adjacent jet, causing a fire etc. How can stop this? Is it possible to edit where the jets spawn, so they are separated? As I imagine teh wing sweep thing is nothing to do with the actual mission...... This is a great program but so far I only have words on a screen but notice I think there were Lua files including speech in the Guit -Hub package. I am not eloquent with IT enough yet ( although it looks like I will have to be more so ) as to : 1. Do I need this for LSO to talk to me in headphones ? 2. It compares certain parameters of your Case 1 pattern to optimal values, and based on the difference to your parameters gives you evaluation and points using on screen text. I also moved the ACs farther south, about 17nm from the CV so you have some time to set everything up and contact the CV by radio. From what I see, waypoint 1 goes to a trigger area 5 nm south of the carrier and I am guessing this is what triggers the Case 1 script? I was having trouble with my F14 carrier landings, but this mission is great for practice, Many thanks to Bankler for doing this.

I made this mission with the intent to make it easier and more fun to practice your skills around the boat. CASE 1 recoveries are one of those things that most sim pilots (that are into somewhat realistic naval flying) want to get proficient in, but it can sometimes be tedious to practice it. The scoring system has been developed with guidance from Lex (former F/A-18 pilot and US Navy flight instructor). How does it work? Approach the carrier from behind and do all the pattern stuff (break, downwind, final turn and a trap/bolter). For instance, it tracks if you’re on the right altitude, if you’re on-speed, and how far from the boat you are when abeam. After a trap (or bolter, or even a wave-off), you’ll get a summary on how well you performed in each section of the pattern, as well as a final score, where 75/75 is maximum. It will also tell you what wire you got. Practice and track the progress To restart the pattern, you simply fly back south to the trailing ship. The mission will tell you that you’re welcome back for another pass. In other words, don’t fly straight into the pattern. Instead always perform full CASE 1 recovery breaks and patterns (that’s the whole point of this practice mission). The mission will also keep a little list containing the score of all your passes of the sortie, so you can see if you’re making progress. Multiplayer! Finally, there’s multiplayer support. You can launch the mission with your friends or squadron mates, and the mission will track everyone’s progress separately. Maybe you can even use it to host a CASE 1 recovery competition in your squadron? Final words I’m eager to hear your feedback so I can make adjustments and provide updates based on it. There might of course be smaller bugs and such, just let me know! If this tool helped anyone out, or at least you had a good time with it, I’d LOVE to hear from you! Would you be ok with me unpacking the mission file and try to add 4 Hot Start and 4 Cold Start Hornets to the selection mass? If i do is there something in the triggers or naming conventions i need to be aware off? Thanks for a superb training "mission"

No, you can't see that from the cockpit. Normally you get that info from Marshal as you check in. In DCS, the easiest "cheat" way is to press alt-f9 to see the LSO view, and look for what it says next to SH (ship's heading). Adjusted all waypoints. replaced the airborne S-3 Viking tanker and E-2 Hawkeye AWACS with units launching at mission start (Moose recovery tanker and awacs scripting used for them). Added two cold starting Hornets and added a few statics on the carrier. Added a C2 for spare parts and mail. 2

Approved and active in User Files Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery Trainer - Kola Peninsula version I have edited some of the surrounding parts of the mission and added a few things. - Statics and AI activity on the carrier from mission start - Human airborne jets moved to 30nm to give a good time to set up the brake - Carrier Group consistency changed to mimic CVW-8 in 2006 (https://www.seaforces.org/usnair/CVW/Carrier-Air-Wing-8.htm) - units used from other mods (FRENCHPACK, desdemicabina-simulations Álvaro de Bazán, Military Aircraft Mod, EA_6B, A-4E-C, T-45) - I opted to add the mods as dependencies as they are all stunning work and ad a bit of atmosphere and realism to the mission. - New scripting to give updated BRC course from the carriers magnetic heading. Can be called via menu on demand. - Added/altered Recovery Tanker, AWACS and Caps via moose scripting if you experience any problems with the mission be sure to tell me and not bother Bankler about it null Edited March 10 by Mav87th 4
Bankler Posted March 30 Author Posted March 30 I finally got some time to look at the issues with the RALT being engaged during the cockpit auto-setup. It turns out that some new feature sets the HSI in a certain mode for around 8 seconds when you start airborne and the INS is set to IFA. This removes the TIMEUFC and replaces it with a SEA button, until it's done with... whatever it's doing. Hence, the auto setup failed to press TIMEUFC, leaving the UFC in the AP menu instead of going to the TIME menu to set LTOD. Meaning RALT was pressed instead of LTOD. The solution was to delay that button until the INS thing is done. This is a temporary beta version. I'd be super happy if you can test it carefully, and let me know if anything else seems off. If everything seems okay, a proper release will soon replace 7.3.0 on the first page. Thanks for the patience, everybody.
