Per the manual, it is prohibited to leave the AIR RELIGHT circuit breaker on for longer than 45 seconds.

The engine oxygen supply system will permit five attempts at engine relight. (Provided the AIR RELIGHT circuit breaker is used for no more than 30 seconds)

Thanks for the info chaps.

 

I've just written a stern letter to Mikoyan and told them 2.5 minutes is simply not good enough and they must do better.

Engine air restart is very easy and always succeeds. Turn on the on switch AIR RELIGHT and the motor starts itself.

 

Well depends on what caused the flameout. Need to make sure to be inside re-light parameters

According to the manual for the MiG-21 bis, after extinguishing the burning engine.

Is forbidden to start the engine.
