  1. This may be a bit unorthodox, but I usually avoid the excessive G forces by starting at around 1500-2000 meters up at around 800km/hr, and gently moving into a shallow dive of about 15-20 degrees. This renders the sight quite innacurate, and it only really works on very large structures, but it allows me to break away by slightly banking left or right away from the blast upon release. It also makes me very vulnerable to air defenses as I am directly flying over the target area at a lower altitude. Still, it's the most effective method I've used to drop bombs on things without shearing them off the aircraft.
  2. I don't think that the bugs and other issues hamper my experience all that much. Sure, they are annoying, but I don't let it ruin my experience.
  3. I only use SAU recovery as a level flight button, and only at an altitude higher than 100m from Sea Level, and going faster than 800km/hr. I've managed to fly as low as 20m with it on, but only hugging the ocean, and i slid into the waves while applying rudder.
  4. Honestly I circumvent this whole endeavor by just screaming through the skies at 850-900km/hr, no need to trim at all at those speeds!
  5. As far as I know, the English cockpit comes standard in Metric. just go to the special settings.
  6. There is no such thing as NVG's in the MiG-21. Squint and raise your Gamma Settings.
  7. Honestly I'm having a blast just ground pounding on Growling Sidewinder's server using my immense energy and egress capabilities to wipe out SAMS before they get me.
  8. 1: I just leave it on Taxi all of the time. 2: The mechanical lock is just there so you don't jam the gear lever upward while on the ground. I'd recommend setting the lock upward once you make it to the runway after taxiing, so that when you want to retract the gears, you actually can do so. 3: I would say that's due to just maneuvering. You can tell your engine is beginning to fail when your RPMs shunt back and forth. Putting it in that state is not a good idea for a long time. 4: I have never turned Probe Heat on and off, but your ASP is tied to the Gyro systems, so that fact may help. 5: You don't want to be contacting the runway at no more than 3m/s if you don't want to smash your gears apart. keep your throttle high, and afterburn if you need to to maintain your speed. Hope that helps!
  9. I'm pretty sure the nosecone is moving back and forth since the nosecone automatic controls are based on airspeed.
  10. I have noticed the MiG-21 occasionally shrug off some missile attacks. As far as I remember, most of the ones that don't kill you instantly hit around the spine of the aircraft, which usually knocks out all gryos and cause you to bleed loads of fuel. I've had experience of surviving more than one missile hit both online and in offline practice. It's not like the thing's invincible, it's just that hits to the nose or tail are decidedly more deadly than the spine.
  11. When you have a heavy load, keep pressure on the stick upwards even at 200km/hr, the moment the nose starts lifing, don't lean too much into it or you're going to bounce on the runway, which is no fun. Ease upwards and retract. Usually this works for me. I practice with a loadout of 4 S-24s and an 800L fuel tank. your tires will burst occasionally, but you can really easily do that if you damage them a good deal by going off the taxiway into the dirt
  12. Now we just need mods where we can strap a pair of .50's on it for tiny strafing runs!
  13. I keep hearing how the UPK Gunpods on the MiG-21 are essentially Non-canon for the airframe. Honestly, they make a great addition for daring, "truck popping" raids onto enemy territory, combining your speed with having two of your own cannons strapped to your wings is just great! I had heard that the notion was tested but was not put into practice, but I do see its strengths as a lower-tier CAS aircraft.
  14. I was wondering if anyone had some official Texture templates lying around for the MiG-21. I had seen a link to the other aircraft here, https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/texture_templates/ but I didn't see the 21 in there. I did try the Leatherneck site, but that link 404d.
  15. Keep up the work on that canopy! I really want to be able to see out my cockpit while still having a Pure Client for multiplayer!
  16. I'd be willing to narrate them myself, I have the equipment to do that... Not sure how to add those lines in the game though.
  17. Probably the greatest help of all is having less weight by the time you land. Don't even think about touching down unless you have less than 1000 L. You have a lot lesser chance to smash your gears apart on landing otherwise.
  18. I have never had a survivable situation where having a wing severed actually was survivable. Usually, the enemy damages the aircraft enough to make it uncontrollable. Usually, it's immediate death or a spin into the ground.
  19. I actually have the Extreme 3D pro as my joystick. It's a little old, but it does the job. Here's how I set it up. Pardon the written descriptions, it's tricky to write like that. CORRECTION: for me, the zoom in and zoom out controls are reversed in my actual binds, but you get the picture.
  20. I'm having trouble getting the download links to Voiceattack and the addon for the MiG-21 Module. The download just appears to be a link.
  21. I think you might just use the artificial Horizon to get an idea on what degree from the ground the aircraft is pointing. The radar altimeter in dive-bombing would be quite useless.
  22. OK, so the Frigates are Destructible? Nice!
  23. Just for the heck of it, in a mission I set up, I tried to square between myself in the 21, versus the Carl Vinson aircraft carrier. Quite obviously, it was a monstrous adversary regarding its air defenses, featuring both short and long range missiles, as well as cannons. I was almost immediately toast, and no matter how many Groms I slammed into the superstructure and even dropped a tactical nuke on the thing, it never really managed to get damaged. First of all, is the Carl Vinson invincible or something? It would make sense given how low detail the model is, and the fact that it doesn't have a health bar in the F10 menu. Secondarily, are there any naval vessels that both pose a threat and can be destroyed? Or, perhaps I could try and take on any other destructible vessel.. What kinds of weapons would best suit attacking a hard target like a ship? Would Ground penetrating bombs work or just punch through the thing? I was using Groms, since I could maintain a low altitude and deliver a good deal of explosives with reasonable accuracy.
  24. I had noticed in the manual that the switch was either somewhere in front of the control stick or on the control stick itself. impressive showcase!
