WelshZeCorgi Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Seems like a viggen driver would benefit from having 3 joysticks. I have 2, the nub on the warthog throttle and the actual warthog joystick that came with it. Wondered if anyone has any recommendation for a third to either act as the rb5 missile controller or the radar pipper slew controller...

It would be really cool if you could use a 2nd 4 axis joystick just for the rb05 somehow. I have a old sidewinder joystick just laying around. Is there any way to use 2 joysticks at the same time in the game?

Eldur Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Might seem odd, but I use a PS3 controller for that since it brings 2 mini sticks Would just be better to have it mounted in place somewhere instead of having that thing around loose.

I have a old sidewinder joystick just laying around. Is there any way to use 2 joysticks at the same time in the game? It works fine without any magic, just plug it in, assign X/Y axis to slew controls in DCS AJS37 and that's it. I have a T.16000m set up for left hand that I use in the Viggen, though I use it to control the Radar, and the Warthog ministick for RB05. In the real aircraft RB05 controller is actually a small (pressure) ministick on the right console, while the radar control is that big stick on the left. WelshZeCorgi Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 Assume the "position" I wonder how the pilot is supposed to handle the controls when an rb05 is in the air... does he have his left hand on the stick and his right hand on the rb05 or left hand on throttle and right hand on rb05? I tried flying with my left hand instead of my right and it's really uncomfortably awkward. I'll stick with attitude autopilot.
Fisherman82 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 I have been thinking about this also, I would guess that it is positioned on the right side so that it would be possible for the pilot to operate both the throttle and the stick with the left hand. I would also guess that it would depend on the situation how they would actually do it. Uncomfortably awkward is the way it should be in the sim, from what I have read the real pilots where not huge fans of the RB05 because of this combined with that they where supposed to do it when exposed to enemy air defenses during a pop up attack. I have built my own controller for the RB05 using a Zero Delay USB Encoder.

randomTOTEN Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 At some point i'm just going to make a dual binding for the Radar and RB-05A controllers. I never use both at the same time, so it makes sense to have a single HAT/joystick perform both functions.

When I try to bind a function to a control that is already assigned a function, it binds it exclusively to the new function and deletes its old function.
TOViper Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 For Rb-05 I use keyboard cursur up, down, left and right while on autopilot attitude hold with low power setting. Technically it works like a charm, even in VR I have the same results as when using a screen: Hit nothing at a distance more than 3 km :music_whistling: Visit https://www.viggen.training ...Viggen... what more can you ask for? my computer: AMD Ryzen 5600G 4.4 GHz | NVIDIA RTX 3080 10GB | 32 GB 3.2 GHz DDR4 DUAL | SSD 980 256 GB SYS + SSD 2TB DCS | TM Warthog Stick + Throttle + TRP | Rift CV1

When I try to bind a function to a control that is already assigned a function, it binds it exclusively to the new function and deletes its old function. You'd have go into the controls lua and create a binding which gives both a radar stick command, and a RB-05A controller command. I did the opposite for the A-10A some time ago, where I built separate trigger and pickle commands for my joystick, so I know it's possible. It just involves moving lua around in the text file, and I'm not in the mood to try it yet.
WelshZeCorgi Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 I use radio btn on throttle for radar control. The little mouse stick for the rb 05. I ended up doing this, until I can find one of those tiny atari joysticks (at least one that has better reviews than the ones currently in production) I'll probrably stick to this setup. I find using that little throttle stick is the best way (in my experience) to control the RB-05.
FSKRipper Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) Since I play some games with dual stick I use a T16000m on my desk for Rb05 (or Hot in the Gazelle) guidance. LotusDragon Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 The xbox one controller works perfect! It has 2 small joysticks which each provide 2 additional axis in dcs. :)
