...Have an advanced American fighter (F-15E, F-16C, etc.), or something Russian (MiG-29, Su-24, Su-27, etc.)? Just curious, wondering if I'm weird for preferring Russian jets to American ones.

For me, it's Russian at this time as well, simply because in my "formative simulation years", pretty much everything on offer was western hardware based simulations (albeit not even close to the level of DCS today), so there was a little over saturation and over exposure for me personally on those type of aircraft early on.

In DCS today, it's very refreshing to have a glimpse at eastern hardware as well, and so I would totally go for a PFM/ASM-based module of a 4th gen Russian fighter, and my current favorite would be the MiG-35.

(Of course, right now DCS makes it possible to fall in love all over again with western planes that were modeled before in the 90s, esp if they are on this high level of fidelity as our Hornet, or the future F-16).

No , you are not weird for liking Russian aircraft . They are very capable . I generally find westen aircraft a little easier to fight with , due to cockpit ergonomics , but like the performance of the eastern bloc aircraft as well . Mig-19 will prolly be my next module purchase when money available after hardware upgrades .

Personally, we are "oversaturated" with the existing modules. We miss a game play. I'm tired of mission making. Come home from work, turn on DCS, resume a truly dynamic campaign that was paused yesterday, and enjoy. That a life I want to live :)

As much as I like the most recent (awaiting the Tomcat e.g. :joystick:) and all of the older western modules (missing the HAWK ) an almost fully modeled MiG-23, SU-24 or MiG-29/SU-27 with clickable cockpit layout and AFM etc. would be an instant buy for me as well as those famous russian WW II planes ...

If I had to chose, I'd pick a Russian bird, mainly because there are so few full fidelity ones, especially compared to the western a/c.

The lack of comparable full fidelity aircraft in the first place makes this choice difficult.

In a vacuum, I would have picked American jets, but since we have most of the Western jets I'm interested in full fidelity, I would very much be excited about a full fidelity Russian jet.

You said American but I assumed that meant Western. I would love to see a Tornado or Eurofighter or Typhoon someday, but yeah, bring on the MiGs and Su's

We do need a full modeled module of a modern Rudsian aircraft. the Mig 29 would be a dream! and if its the K It would be Heaven (thow i understand it might be a bit too clasified to be modeled)

i agree. the russian jets are more interesting for the lack of FBW alone! i think there are later 29s with FBW, so i would obviously prefer any variant that is still "mechanical". "Mig-29 SM" or "Mig-29 SMT" f.e.

I would still be happy with an A model though...
