ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 17, 2019 ED Team Share Posted August 17, 2019 Might be a good idea to let us know who your ISP / Provider is, and what speed you have, also location in the world. Also if you have ports forwarded for DCS or not in your router, and firewall configured. maybe we can find a common issue. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? D4n
Not only is it very annoying to having to copy-paste the IP adress everytime to connect, it also is annoying having to wait those 10 or more seconds for the refresh icon to finish, to be able to mark & copy IP adress... ED Team NineLine Posted August 31, 2019 ED Team Share Posted August 31, 2019 You were asked for more info, and instead you are just complaining, so its up to you, show us there is a real problem or I will have to close, so far there are only a couple people saying this is an issue, nothing to show me this isn't an issue on the user side. OttoPus
I have the same issue here. In the server browser, even after few refresh, the servers I'm interested in are showing red 300ish ms ping. So they refuese me to connect (your ping is too high! message). When I manage to connect via IP, in-game the ping is around 70ms. Something strange is happening with the browser mechanism. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 31, 2019 ED Team Share Posted August 31, 2019 I've tested this myself, I don't have any issue with browser pings on first load. Could this be local network / ISP related which is why different users see different results? Forum rules - DCS Crashing? discwalker
More info At least one guy experiencing crazy high pings in the Hungarian ISP:UPC cable modem called "ConnectBox". My hardware version: 5.01 Standard: DOCSIS 3.0 Software: CH7465LG-NCIP-6.12.18.24-5p4-NOSH DCS handle badly this newest modem since I replaced the worse handled: incomplete serverlist one. Before the modem change listed pings was real. (Old modem was "Ubee EVW3226") For numerous Hungarian players serverlist is incomplete and those guys not have modem upgrade option, they depend of the goodwill of ED. D4n
SUPER strange phenomenon that I just witnessed, all pings just showed 200-300 ms lower than they were (not a SINGLE red ping number!!!) while I uploaded a video to YouTube... how the hell could bandwidth/upload-stream be related to ping in the DCS serverbrowser, wtf? :P (still the pings were 50-100 ms higher than they should, but already a lot closer to the real values!) Although the results are inconclusive without more testing on your part, it looks like your ISP is enforcing some sort of bandwidth shaping. You might want to contact your ISP. I sometimes get high ping when I first connect to the DCS web browser but goes away after a refresh.

discwalker
for me with openbeta now @NineLine 65 server is a very low number, do you suffer from incomplete serverlist? 415 for me at first load: 413 for me at second load Pings should be in listing time around 50ms for Hungarian servers. Is it possible to aware developers to the problem? Not every user able to withstand difficulties with gameplay, they just leave DCS multiplayer silently, they not even has an account on ED forums. This will be true about the forthcoming MAC's serverlist, a lot of new person will be try the serverlist with a wide variety of unsupported cable modems. Maybe worth to prepare for worst case scenario: to not loosing possible players. GTX 1070 8GB, 16GB DDR3, W8.1 on SSD, DCS on another SSD

Distiler
It is dependent on the time of day of course. Sometimes there are more servers, sometimes there are less. Or maybe it's becasue you are not seeing them all. Like it has been happening for a lot of us for the last years. I can't understand how this have not been acknowledged by ED yet. 65 servers is such a low number that it's hard to see in any moment of the day. Just counting all of the 1 player server get's you above 100 anytime. Please, do something! PD: want to see some fun wonky behaviour that I can reproduce 100% of the times? check this video where I reboot my router and magically go from 20 to 200 visible servers: Edited September 2, 2019 by Distiler AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision
ED Team NineLine Posted September 2, 2019 ED Team Share Posted September 2, 2019 Also, note mine doesn't show servers with pings over 500, why would I want or need to see a server with a ping of +1000? I am not going to play on that server and have a bad time and make everyone else have a bad time as well. razo+r
I got quite good internet speed and don't have my ports forwarded. 1st try, detected 1200 servers, shown something like 500 or so. The server is in germany, got a Ping of 1500. Then I refreshed and ping went down to 135. What more infos can I provide you?
ED Team NineLine Posted September 4, 2019 ED Team Share Posted September 4, 2019 Reply from the team: The timeout for server response is 3000ms, so servers with pings of 1000+ should show up. Also, the client retries the request 5 times before giving up. However, if UDP packets do not go through at all, the server won't show up - but it won't be playable anyway. The bug with crazy pings on the first listing is worth filing into the Jira. The fix will require quite a bit of work though.
