Argh - why didn't I buy the Hornet before?

It also appears to be more more polished as of the latest update, which is understandable.

You feel that the Harrier is more polished than the Hornet? If this is your opinion then there is of course nothing wrong with that but it surprises me a little since usually one reads opposite statements (including my own experience)

It may be the time I spend in the Harrier over the F-18 that influences my bias. I have not spent much time in the F-18 yet so my bias may change over time. I do find the external model a little nicer on the Harrier though. I do wish they would finish the latter though. I won`t buy the Tomcat until they do.

You know the Harrier and Tomcat are made by different teams?

No I did not. I guess that might make a difference. I confused with Heatblur and Viggen.

To Clarify the Harrier, Tomcat and F-18 are all made by different, unrelated teams.

Not just teams (like different teams within ED), but actual different companies!

How do you know they are 'unrelated' - do you have any genetic proof to back up these wild and unsubstantiated claims? :prop:

Alright then. Just asking, because I think the F-14 will fit the bold part in your opening post much better than the Hornet does. Well, except the high alpha thing, but lighting the burners, accellerate with brute force and cruising around the black sea is a much more intense experience in the good old analogue F-14 than it is in the digital fly by wire Hornet ;)
Ok, you and Top Jockey have convinced me and I just bought the F14 from my phone even though I am on vacation in the US, and my hangar is full of unflown aircraft ;)

You are now both on my wife's virtual black list (virtual as in she will not know I just bought a virtual plane for 79 USD because of you ;))

See it like an early Christmas gift... It is one of the most intriguing planes in DCS. Though it isn't as modern as the F-18C/F-16CJ it just feels soooooo right! :pilotfly::punk:

I feel bad now :music_whistling:

Anyways, please let us know how you like the Tomcat compared to the Hornet. I'm really interested in how you perceive it :)

Ok, have tried it now and you where right. It really has has that Cadillac feeling :) The Kerosene drenched seagulls are seriously considering to migrate to some quiet place as far away from Batumi as possible, together with the villagers. Thanks!

Less on rails but a lot of hard rock soul. The thing that I miss most compared to the Hornet are the more exotic AG loadouts with even more in the pipeline for the F18, but that was naturally to be expected. I like CCIP a lot anyway!

Interesting description, in several aspects it seems you've read my mind.

You also guessed it, regarding the "Cadillac of the Sky" I was going to call it the F-15, (although I've always been much more fond of the F-14.)

Which begs the question: have you already tried the F-14 ?

If you also appreciate Air to Air warfare and analog old-school systems, you would be marvelled with the Tomcat.

About the Hornet... well it has its qualities, outstanding maneuverability, JHMCS, modern cockpit, in the future a targeting POD... but it will never have the F-14 charisma.

Regarding the Viggen, you nailed it.

It really is a pity that the chosen variant is the Air to Ground one (AJ 37), and not the Fighter / Interceptor (JA 37).

That's why I didn't buy it.

In my view, for A-G there's Su-25, A-10, etc.

And firing A-A missiles without any HUD symbology to assist... meh, what a turn-off.

The JA 37 on the other hand, would have been (for me) so much more interesting, even with somewhat archaic avionics, i would be very interested to know them.

Totally agreed. I had the Hornet before, than bought the Tomcat. And damn...this module. Tomcat blows me away everytime I fly it!

I can just agree. Tomcat feels almost like she is real (of course she is not) but it feels just surreal.
