rwy12 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Hi Everyone Sorry to ask again-I have failed to find how to put 3 AGM's per wing -as in photo attached. Can you please advise if this this possible in mission builder and how. Many thanks. Qas
9echo Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Hi, In Mission Planner for the mission you are about to fly, choose your aircraft to select loadout, right-click on the station and under Bombs/Missiles/Pods/whatever, it gives you all the options possible for that station. If possible to use three, it will say e.g. 3x GBU-12 or 3x AGM-65D. Note this is not possible on every station. LeCuvier Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Yes, in the ME you can select up to 3 Mavericks per pod. Recommendation: Save the mission to be modified under "\Saved Games\...\Missions\A-10Cẞ..." before anything else so you don't overwrite the original mission provided by ED. As to how to configure the weapons payload in ME please use the DCS User Manual EN.pdf and look for "Payload mode". Note: in practice I understand they only use 2 Mavericks per pod because the innermost missile position is very colose to the fuselage and there is a risk of damage from the hot missile exhaust at launch. rwy12 Posted June 2, 2019 Author Posted June 2, 2019 Many thanks. I am new to DCS. To learn the basics I have created A simple mission. Under weapons options I do not see any 3x AGM. Thank you for clarifying this option is not available all the time. Once I start doing preset missions may be an option will be available. Is it possible to edit weapons load in pre set missions? Thanks again.
Nick_17 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 The option is only available on one station on each wing, should be station 3 and 9.You can use the comms menu to rearm on the ground and change your loadout. Note that your engines have to be turned off to be able to rearm and refuel 1) Asus ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi D4 / i9 13900K @ 5,5 Ghz / Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 128 GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200 Mhz / Asus ROG Strix RTX 4090 / 2 x 4 TB SSD Samsung 870 Evo / 2 x 1 TB M.2 SSD Samsung 980 Pro / Meta Quest Pro 2) Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming / i9 10900K @ 4,9 Ghz / Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 64 GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200 Mhz / Asus ROG Strix RTX 3090 / 1 TB SSD Samsung 870 Evo / 500 GB M.2 SSD Samsung 980 Pro / HP Reverb G2
Yurgon Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 (edited) I have failed to find how to put 3 AGM's per wing -as in photo attached. In the Mission Editor, hit the "Payload" icon for an A-10C. There are many pre-created payloads, but they all use 2 Mavericks per station (or none at all). You can either change one of these, or create an entirely new payload. In any case, the A-10 can only load Mavericks on stations 3 and 9. Right click these stations, go for "MISSILES" and then pick any of the loadouts that you want: As was said before, the loadout with 3 Mavs per station is not normally used. And even 2 per station are extremely rare nowadays, because a) the launcher itself creates a lot of drag and b) during the asymmetric conflicts in which the A-10 has seen action since the 2000s, Mavs aren't nearly as important as (dumb and guided) bombs, and the gun. Edit: The option is only available on one station on each wing, should be station 3 and 9.You can use the comms menu to rearm on the ground and change your loadout. Note that your engines have to be turned off to be able to rearm and refuel Good point, rearming also works on the ground inside of a mission! But the engines can be running, no problem there. It's just that the canopy needs to be open or the intercom needs to be set to ground, or else the crew chief won't "hear" the request. Engines off is a requirement for repairs, though. eaglecash867 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 IIRC, loading 3 Mavericks isn't done because the inboard missiles have been shown to cause damage to the main gear sponsons with their rocket motors. rwy12 Posted June 2, 2019 Author Posted June 2, 2019 Many thanks everyone-I see the x3 at the bottom of the selections for the AGM. My fault for noting paying attention.
MasterZelgadis Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Additionally, if you want to go for realistic loadouts: When loading 2 Mavericks on a station, you don't load a TGP on the next station, because firing the outer rail Maverick can damage the TGP "Sieh nur, wie majestätisch du durch die Luft segelst. Wie ein Adler. Ein fetter Adler." http://www.space-view.net
Nooch Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Loading 3 x Mavericks per wing is actually realistic if you simulate an anti tank loadout of the 90s. They had 6*Mavericks total, 2*Sidewinders, ECM pod, a full gun load and nothing else. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mastersetter Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 You can load whatever you like, no penalty. 6 Mavericks really slows your a-10 though.. i5-7600K @ 4.8 | 32GB | 1080 | Rift S | TM MFD & WH HOTAS-10mm ext + TFRP
Eviscerador Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 IIRC, loading 3 Mavericks isn't done because the inboard missiles have been shown to cause damage to the main gear sponsons with their rocket motors. I think one guy around who is an actual Hog ground crew chief said that the only problem with the inner missiles is that they damage the paint and the anti corrosive treatment of the wing, so after each mission where the third missile is shot, the crew have to check and repair the surface treatment. Also, there are few current scenarios where that kind of load is needed. Having less missiles reduce fuel consumption and increases agility. Other than that, you are free to use whatever loadout you want. I usually get 2xMav 2xGBU 12 and 2x Mk82 or JDAM + 60% fuel. If you need more ordenance you need more planes or less objectives :megalol: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
