Nealius Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I can't remember if this was an A-8 or a different variant, but I made an Eduard 1:48 kit many years ago. It would be cool if someone could make that livery.
Vampyre Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I can't remember if this was an A-8 or a different variant, but I made an Eduard 1:48 kit many years ago. It would be cool if someone could make that livery. That is an FW-190F-8. Nealius Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 What features distinguish the A-8 from the F-8? I've tried looking through the Wikipedia diagrams but they all look mostly the same to me.
Vampyre Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 F-8 doesn't have the 20mm wing cannons of the A-8 and is equipped with wing mounted bomb racks (which can't be seen in this photo). Plus, the markings presented are of a machine from one of the Schlachtgeschwader, either 2 or 10. Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills. Nealius Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Wait, the F-8 only has the two 7.92mm MGs in the nose?
Vampyre Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 (edited) Wait, the F-8 only has the two 7.92mm MGs in the nose? No, the F-8 has the two nose MG's and two wing root MK's. The A-8 has those plus two additional MK's in the mid wing section just outboard of the landing gear. - To further confuse things, the G-8 had the MG's and mid wing MK's removed keeping just the wing root MK's. Magic Zach Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 For those flying historians wondering, I made a full swastika version of the default liveries (the only three there are). Can be found by Googling “DCS FW190A8 full swastika liveries”, found on LockOn. Doesn't break IC check. I can't post a link here. Apparently ED forums don't like links to LockOnFiles. A lot of people were asking for it, and being a person who had the ability to provide such a thing, I did. There's nothing more to it. I won't post a picture of it here though. robban75 Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 If anyone could make this livery(minus the civil reg. markings) for the DCS Fw 190A-8 I'd be very grateful. :)
Svsmokey Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Any livery guys be interested in doing a livery for Bernard Kunze's aircraft ? It is very popular with modelers , being essentially stock camo with a checkerboard cowling . Also has his wifes name in the heart on the side of the fusalage . I'm particularly interested in this one because he happens to be the guy who shot down my wife's father . (He survived , but two of his B-17s crew did not .) I have a photo showing details of the livery , but won't post it here as it shows a swastika . Can pm . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
Mekako Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 And one Eastern livery? I know there is no theatre avaliable for this camo but... Walter Nowotny and his White 8, I don't have any original photo to show so this is my rc Fw190 1,8 span bird Win 7 64bits Sp1; Panda Dome; i7 2600k 3,4gh OC 4,5; 16gb 4x1333 DDR3; Gigabyte GTX1080ti stock clocks; ASUS P8Z68V; OS and DCS on SDD 240gb 2,5"; 500gb HDD; cooler master silent pro 1000w; Track IR 5; Saitek X52; Saitek pro Combat rudder; 2560 x 1440
WichitaMODEX Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 French Nc.900 would be cool. Czech Avia S.90 paint job would be cool as well. Turkey operated some A3's and A4's I believe. Might be fun to paint up for Persian Gulf... If ED will add the R8 kit, paint options expand some as well.
CyStriker Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Gents: Did you have trouble installing the module FW-190A8? i can not get it to install nor recognized in the 2.5.5 bete? Any help would be appreciated. CyStriker

Warlord64 Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 (edited) Skin: FW-190A8 Haupt. Wilhelm Moritz, IV.Sturm JG3 "Udet", Memmingen.Germany, July 19 Skin: FW-190A8 Haupt. Wilhelm Moritz, IV.Sturm JG3 "Udet", Memmingen.Germany, July 1944. Hi Guys Here is My first FW190-A8 skin. As there is no official Template/Skin pack yet I had to create my own Fully layered one from scratch which has layers for weathering,Lines & Rivets,National Markings,Warning Markings and paint etc. I will be making this avilable soon but just have to tweak a few points. The only thing I couldnt do was remove the serial Number(550) and its box from the vertical stabiliser as I dont know how to script the description.lua file to remove it. So if anyone with the expertise could do this for Me and send me the ammended description.lua I would be very grateful. Steven190 Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 W. Mortiz tail number is 681382 Also he did not have the black nose, only the Yellow chin color, but nice work
Warlord64 Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 (edited) W. Mortiz tail number is 681382 Also he did not have the black nose, only the Yellow chin color, but nice work Hi Steven I used a few sites as reference that show this livery to be attributed to W.Moritz flying from Memmingen,Germany,July 18th 1944. However the same aircraft was photographed at Schongau in August 1944 and was re-painted in a more anonymous scheme(one with Yellow under engine cowling) than the iconic Sturm JG3 Back Cowling scheme, but no further info is known whether he continued to fly this machine and if it remained in this anonymous scheme for the rest of the war beyond August 1944. As for the coding 681382 on the vertical stabiliser,I was going to add this but as I mentioned "All I couldnt do was remove the serial Number(550) and its box from the vertical stabiliser as I dont know how to script the description.lua file to remove it. For example: {"Fw190_serial_L1", 0 ,"Fw190_Fuselage_D_Hans_Dortenmann",false}; turns into: {"Fw190_serial_L1", 0 ,"empty",false}; This will allow you to hard paint your own serial numbers into the diffuse. Steven190 Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 That is the only picture of the A-8 that I have seen, was the normal paint scheme with him sitting on the cockpit edge. Thanks for the info. As a side note, Moritz said he saw this plane later in the war
