Is it bug ?

F/A-18C

In the initial stage of movement of Throttle - there is no any reaction from moving!

Two video...

Throttles curve work correctly! There is no same problem in A-10C. Only in F/A-18C

I've seen this as well in the Viggen and Harrier at least, managed to get around this with some Saturation (Y IIRC) and Slider checked.

I checked "Slider" & Saturation Y = 83

Now OK !

P.S

Saturation (Y IIRC) and Slider checked

Does it mean - IIRC ?

I am glad I read this thread and the solution did work for me here.

I check mine after reading the open post and saw the throttle in cockpit does not kick in with my physical throttle movement initially. I have set the Y saturation to 83 and these has tremendously reduced the discrepancies. Setting it below 83 would have my aircraft moving without me moving the throttle while stationary.

I am hoping this adjustment would improve those times during carrier landing and AAR when you need micro throttle movement and corresponding response.

Thanks guys.

IIRC = if I recall correctly. Just wasn't sure if it was X or Y. Y was indeed correct.

If I remember correctly...

The delay is because of the different position between the ground and air idle, you can see on the controls overlay that it won't go all the way back in the air.

If I am not mistaken there is a mechanism that only allow moving it all the way back with weight on wheels, in the air it won't allow you move it back past a certain amount. Another problem of our physical controls not being a perfect emulation: if you bring your throttle all the way back in the air during the landing you won't engage the ground idle after touchdown, increasing runway stopping distance, you need to either go to idle after touchdown or wiggle it a little bit after touchdown so it will engage ground idle.

Change in last update - I had to increase Y saturation from 83 to 90, to match actual throttle movement, with my TM Twcs.

H'm!! I tried 90 Y saturation and..there is no any reaction from moving In the initial... only a little less

Only 83 - full remove "empty" movement....:(

It's because the travel is different between ground (weight on wheels) and air : 83 saturation allow full travel from AIR idle to full AB, but on the ground, you have to use 90 saturation to allow full travel from GROUND idle to full AB.

So when airborne, with 90 saturation you have a "dead zone", but you need it because on ground you have to be able to reach ground idle.

Here it was perfect with Y90.

I've understood this is due to DCS modelling the inflight idle solenoid in the throttle, which changes the idle position from ground idle to inflight idle with no weight on wheels (WOW).

I have to say it works well with the DIY throttle I made that has an accurate ground and inflight idle. Till I made this throttle though, it also was really bugging me.

My throttle just has a push through detent, which is annoying for taxing admittedly. Eventually I'm going to use a WOW type input to activate a solenoid. Similar to what was done here:

(Edit: this video is NOT MINE and is just meant to show how he used a WOW type function to activate the gear locking solenoid when the jet went airborne. I'd use the same method to after the flight idle detent solenoid.)
