Nealius Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 The AI knows whenever you shoot a missile at it, and their radars vastly over preform. At this point I consider this game-breaking for single player or online PvE. I've had an Su-25 outrun an 120 shot at high aspect, 16nm, TWS. 1
veenee Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Question out of curiosity: Is it half of the missile's maximum range, or is it half of the distance the missile is actually fired at? I only ask because, for example, firing a phoenix at 35NM could theoretically be considered at half the range already - thereby leading the AI to react instantly. I suspect it's half the range the missile is fired at, as I've not observed myself AI reacting to long range Phoenix or AMRAAM shots until the missile goes active.AI reacts instantly to 25-30 miles Phoenix shot. Have not tried longer distances but I bet it's the same. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk 1 So many modules, so little time... www.mikphotography.com

Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk At longer distances (I usually fire around 50NM) they don’t react immediately, at least for me. ED Team NineLine Posted June 10, 2022 ED Team Posted June 10, 2022 It is reported, but have you retested to make sure the same issues are still valid, things may have changed over time. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
MBot Posted June 11, 2022 Author Posted June 11, 2022 I have recently tested an AI MiG-21 engaging a look-down target at 60 km and a co-alt target at well beyond 100 km. So while I have not re-checked all AI aircraft, the basic issue is still present. Just by the way, I have reported the issue 6 years ago for first time. 4 1
MBot Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 This is still an issue. Now year 7 since first reported. See you next year... 6
PMcG Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 Can someone explain to me why a Mig 19 is able to detect and track an F15E flying at low altitude at night? Maybe I'm missing something but I didn't think that was possible? Mig19AtNightVsF15E.trk 1
Realizm Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Yeah, I had a similar issue. It was some 50 miles out (Mig-19) and turning towards my F-15 no matter which direction I changed. I my radar off, the Mig-19 didn't even have an RWR mounted. There is no way a Mig-19 is seeing an F-15 at 50+ miles and tracking it perfectly. Problem is, the same thing happens with other aircraft. The Mig-21 AI does the same thing. Any chance to have ED look into the magical AI visibility regardless of sensors or eyeballs? 3
MBot Posted May 10, 2024 Author Posted May 10, 2024 (edited) Sadly this still wasn't addressed. Latest test shows: Radar detection range look-down: MiG-19: 60 km (excessive range, radar not look-down capable) MiG-21: 60 km (excessive range, radar not look-down capable) MiG-23: 60 km (excessive range) MiG-25: 65 km (radar not look-down capable) MiG-29: 60 km F-5E-3: 85 km (excessive range, radar not look-down capable) I was looking forward to the Kola map as it features long distance and relatively sparse EWR density. Therefore it should offer various opportunities for low level penetration and detection avoidance tactics. Unfortunately this is absolutely pointless if aircraft such as the MiG-19, MiG-21 or F-5E can pick you up at 60+ km look-down. Edited May 10, 2024 by MBot 4

As someone who exclusively plays single player, it is stuff like this that causes all sorts of issues with immersion. It is great we have the most realistic aircraft of any simulation ever, but we're flying against all-seeing UFO's, that breaks immersion completely. ED, any word on looking into this? 3
MBot Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Happy new year. I wonder if AI radar performance get finally fixed in 2025. 3 1
Volator Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Just one of many aspect in which the AI is severely overperforming. For combat only MP against human players makes sense in DCS because of things like this... 3 1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Seven Eleven
