Marcq Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 And if yes, any other aircraft that are only air to air? Marc..
razo+r Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 It would be able to use some A-G ordonance too, but we don't have that so it is A-A only.
Harlikwin Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Well the motto was not a pound for Air to Ground... Just sayin... New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. razo+r Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 (F-22 can also carry ground ammunition, plus we don't have it in DCS)
Marcq Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 Interesting, is there countries that have the F15C with air to ground capabilities ? Thanks Marc..
Mars Exulte Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 USAF: F-22 Russia: Mig-25 and 31 25 and 31 both have limited A2G afaik, 31 has some precision weapons even on the modern version. Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
Rick50 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I remember in the early 1980's seeing Eagle A's with Mk.82's. Also, I believe the Israelis sent F-15's along with F-16's on the Osirak raid, but I thought for a long time the Eagles were A to A only on that raid... but then I read one source that said nope, the Eagles AND Vipers dropped slick dumb bombs, and the big takeaway at that time was the then "incredible" accuracy of the CCIP dropping dumb bombs. Top story of the month in the news. I think all of that lead to the USAF deciding to develop a new concept and make the Beagle (Bomb Eagle, or Strike Eagle) I found a few pics, but their hosting wouldn't let me display it here, so do a google image search with "eagle mk.82"
Drag80 Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Only way to do a ground attack is the japanese way.....Kama kaazi baby
QuiGon Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 USAF: F-22 Russia: Mig-25 and 31 Basically true, these aircraft were originally made for A-A only. The F-22 does at least employ the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb though and has done so in combat already. The MiG-25 also has dedicated bomber variants and some MiG-31s do carry AGMs. I remember in the early 1980's seeing Eagle A's with Mk.82's. The Israelis on the other hand did indeed made use of that capability in the early years, as you have pointed out very well  Only way to do a ground attack is the japanese way.....Kama kaazi baby You still have the gun on the F-15C which can be used to attack A-G targets ;) Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
