rextar Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Don't take my word for it :) As said above - let's wait for official confirmation. It's no doubt a helluva difficult time for all involved. We can only continue to Hope and Pray for and offer support to the persons/families involved in the aftermath. +1 Intel i5 3.2 ghz 8 GB crucial ram gtx 660 superclocked 2gb 500watt corsair psu win7 64bit extreme pro track ir5 Turtle beach x12

Jona33 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Quote from BBC Website. I hope the farmer got it right. "One of the local farmers said they'd seen rescue teams pulling the pilot out of the river." Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
RIPTIDE Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) Yeahhhh)))))))))))) Not for all... Not for this. No, in this.)))))))))))))))))))) lol... At a casual glance it seems our Mr. topol-m has found the source of your photos for that blog of yours. Thing is though you seem to be shamelessly reproducing them without credits. primeportal.com is giving credits. Your blog isn't. I just had a quick compare of your MiG-15 entry. Voila, exact copy on primeportal... except that place gives the mans name, in this case Howard Mason. http://www.primeportal.net/photo_home/howard_mason_home.htm Edited August 20, 2011 by RIPTIDE [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Jona33 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I interpreted it as alive but you could be right. It was Red 8 that went down, correct? Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
RIPTIDE Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Daily Mail has it that he was killed :( http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2028228/Red-Arrows-pilot-killed-crash-near-Bournemouth-Airport-festival-display.html?ito=feeds-newsxml [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Jona33 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Checked the link. Doesn't say anything about being killed. No chute yes but it also says that he was pulled from the river, alive or dead but it doesn't actually say. I'm hoping for him to be alive. If he isn't, condolences to his family. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
kam Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) Looks like the worst has happened, no online verification of this as of yet but I believe it to be factual "Offical Police/MoD Statement: Pilot has been killed, he was thrown from the aircraft and was pronounced dead at the scene. Confirmed as Red-4: Pilot Flt Lt Jon Eggin" RIP. Edit: BBC confirming it now. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14602900 Edited August 20, 2011 by kam Intel 5820k | Asus X-99A | Crucial 16GB | Powercolor Devil RX580 8GB | Win 10 x64 | Oculus Rift | https://gallery.ksotov.co.uk Patiently waiting for: DCS: Panavia Tornado, DCS: SA-2 Guideline, DCS: SA-3 Goa, DCS: S-300 Grumble
joey45 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 RIP. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Eddie Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Indeed, sadly there was no doubt this was the case. The MoD doesn't keep quiet on occasions such as this if all is ok. RIP Jon Egging.

Jona33 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 yeah, saw that somewhere. He didn't try to eject until he was sure that civilians were safe by the sounds of it. Coming from the Telegraph online that is. This disaster could have been ten times worse if the jet hit the crowd, he died as a hero. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Ragtop Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Huge loss for the aviation community. The Red Arrows are not just display pilots, but like in many of the great display teams, honourable, decorated and weathered combat veterans. Let us all pay our deepest respects to the family of Flt Lt Jon Egging. 476th vFG Alumni
