The first plan for Operation Eagle Claw (1980 in Iran) was to land and start in football stadium in Theran with a C-130, to do that the Air Force had to modify a C-130 like it is shown in the video.

It's Operation Credible Sport. Operation Eagle Claw is different.

Something interesting happened at 3:34.

I think when the aircraft lands you can see a missing panel at the right vertical stabilizer.

They flew that thing unusually aggressively and quick for an F-15. I cant remember a display like this.

Same here. I never took the F-15 for a lame duck, but I was very impressed with the maneuverability displayed in this... erm... display. :)

Also, the panel detaching from the right stabilizer was also my impression. It looked to me as if the aircraft wobbled a bit and the pilot kept it going straight for a few moments, assessing whether something bad had just happened, and then decided it'd be safe to continue with the display.

Also, the never ending nose high taxi was quite funny. :)

This sure wasn't the default USAF display routine.:music_whistling:

IMHO this bird was piloted by the Boeing test crew and not USAF personnel.:joystick:

Anybody with some more info on this?

They handled that F-15 like the stole it, I couldn't stop laughing or gaping at what they were doing. Watching that piece fly off was really not that surprising. They flew level for a short time after it flew off - they were either worried and checking things or laughing their butts off.

Didn't really slow them down though. if they were concerned;

"Jim! did something just fly off?!"

"Yeah something flew off I think, controls seem alright"

"Can confirm that the bird is not on fire and no warning lights are on, so....."

"Well, better take it easy and land her in a military "wheelie" position then...after this freaking awesome vertical climb"

Was a great display.

That was one heck of a display from the F-15!! It was right on the edge. Was it signed off or did they just steal it, as an observer it was hard to tell ;)
