Can someone tell me how to setup my controls so that I can interact in VR? I understand there is a way to use my head and click on the HOTAS or something like that. I really dont wanna try and use the oculus control or the mouse. Thx!

You go to the Ul layer section of the control page.

Ul layer is the last of the item to select.

There you can select any button of your hotas to act as a left or right click so you just need to look whatever you want and press that button to interact.

You can assign left/right mouse click, and the roller wheel function as well - binding them to your HOTAS. Then you need to go into another sub menu (forget exactly what it is called, but believe it is the farthest right tab at the top labeled VR) - and uncheck "use mouse." Then directly centered in your view will be a light gray icon, which is what you need to place over whatever function you intend to toggle within the aircraft (or the menus).

This is what I actually use - but can be a bit cumbersome with some of the rearward switches/controls inside the aircraft or when navigating menus. I think I will switch back to the trackpad I have, which normally is strapped to my leg like a knee board would be. Probably my personal favorite solution at the moment (cost and function wise).

Edit: The icon is indeed blue, rather than gray, after unchecking the “use mouse” option.

Cheers,

Don

Ul layer: mouse x4 clicks/rotate but (so u lose 4 buttons!)

what I did was Voiceattack 'center mouse' command which makes the VR mouse blue cross appear in center of the view.

I use rarely, most my commands are Voiceattack speak.

Have you checked out finger Control Units? I have found them to be an excellent aid to cockpit management in VR.

FCU's are the best thing going right now.

Mouse IMO is second best. You get used to using it it pretty quick. Conventional VR controllers kinda suck IMO, but other folks like em.

I never tried the point with your head click functionality.

At least in conjunction with a mouse/trackball , i highly recommend it . Fastest possible ufc entries , for example , and fine adjustments of cursor position as well .

FCU's are super quick and actually work like RL, so super immersive. I got rid of my physical UFC for coordinate entry because the FCU's are super fast.

FCU? is this the 'thingy' someone here was manufacturing? I remember stumbling on something similar in VR thread a while back.

Does anyone here use any gloves like 'Leap Motion' or others?

FCU=finger control units. Aka pointctrl by member MilesD.

None of the gloves actually work AFAIK nor does leap motion hand tracking.

Thanks, I'll look him up and place an order... if he's still making them.
