[REPORTED]Ground Crew Do Not Respond unless Canopy Opened

See attached track. Try calling rearm with canopy closed, no effect. Canopy open, they respond. Chocks are also invisible but still work. Track won't upload but same .trk as the engine feed inop report track.

You wouldn't yell at the ground chief through the canopy, would you? ;)

 

I would. Just need battery power, a com cord and a head set. You should be able to talk to ground crew with canopy close, that is how we launch them.

Battery on, engine off canopy closed no response. Engine on canopy closed no response. Only response is if canopy open.

Works for me with engine running. Canopy open. No joy canopy closed in any power configuration including ground power. No bug though. So all is ok. It’s just me.

Guys, ensure the "hot mike" switch is on on the AUDIO 2 panel and intercom volume is up

Correct .. but to get the Intercom to work you need electric power, so switch on the BATTery first, then select hot mic and you will be able to reach the Ground Crew even with canopy closed.

Weird, did exactly that. Battery switch on, Hot Mic switch on, Intercom volume full up, canopy closed. No response.

I don't use easy comms either. Quik Track I just did illustrating the issue trying the Hot Mic switch and intercom at full volume. Pretty straight forward - no reply with canopy closed.

(forgive the mucking around resetting my headset at the start)

For me, the ground crew are perfectly fine hot loading wing tanks and bombs but won't go anywhere near the chocks as long as the engine is running.

 

Not sure if you are referring to my track - but it was intended to show the 'no response' by the ground crew when canopy closed. Regardless of the request - you get the same result with a re-arming request etc. I couldn't care less if they fit the chocks or not.

Tested again and I can not reproduce

 

I have used the rearm window LAlt + ' and the comms menu with no issue

Well, this is a hard bug to pin down but I think I got it now and if I'm right then it *is* a bug.

 

Please check if you can reproduce this:

 

tl;dr: Before you contact ground crew, contact ATC. [Edit: Indeed, open any comms menu point *other* than ground crew.] Then try to rearm/refuel and it shouldn't work anymore.

 

Noticed this when I couldn't rearm in a hot-start F-16 but the cold-start F-16 could even rearm once started-up and in the same state as the hot-start F-16.

 

But sometimes I couldn't even in the cold-start - hmmm...? And sometimes it worked - and sometimes not - and so on and so forth.

 

The hot-start can't rearm because if you open the comms menu the ATC gets opened immediately and you press F11 to get out of it. Because you were in ATC - no more rearm.

 

If you take the hot-start F-16 and use LAlt + ' to rearm, suddenly it works. Until you contact ATC, that is...

 

Same in the cold-start for me - contact ATC and you are doomed.

 

Can anyone confirm?
