Welcome to the forums ! Given your experience level , let's start with the basics .

Does DCS run on the laptop screen ?

If so , have you checked "use vr headset" in the vr tab of the DCS settings ?

If so , do you have WMR and Steam VR running ?

If so , are you seeing the vr mirror of DCS on the laptop screen ?

For further help , i'll defer to the Reverb owners , but wish you good luck . I suspect you are in for a heck of a ride learning pc's , DCS , and VR simultaneously :)

Thank you so much! You are correct, this is a lot all at once. But I will get there. I will try your suggestions and will see how it goes. Also, I am flying the mustang, and no matter what I do I still overheat in a climb especially at high altitude. Do you think it is a bug with the Auto rads or a bug in the high altitude campaign. Or both?

I don't have the stang , but i'm certain you could get answers in its dedicated subforum on the main forum page .

The resulotion should be set to 100%(check that it equals resulotion 2207 x 2160).

Don´t quite understand.

I also have a reverb, but mine´s showing 2692x2640 as a 100% resolution. How´s that possible?

SteamVR by default applies 1.4x the native resolution because center of each display is magnified and see more pixels. And compensate it by applying supersampling.

For Reverb, this should be 3024x3024 but SteamVR seems to think that's too high for most computer so they seem to have settled at that resolution.

But basically SteamVR applies supersampling even at 100% by default.

Sure you haven't got a Global Setting for render res set? Also, do you realise you are running at 60Hz?

Sorry, I am still bad at definitions. Global Settings where exactly?

As for the refresh rate, mine is set at 90Hz in Headset Display->Experience Options. I don't know why it's still at 60Hz in SteamVR

Global Settings for Render Resolution in main SteamVR settings window.

In my experience, if you are getting 60Hz even though you set it to 90Hz, it means you are getting poor tracking.

Ok got it.

Found out that “motionReprojectionMode” : “auto” is a way to override that. Only this got me extra 10FPS. But also GPU Usage went up from 72% to 97%:(

Hmm, don't know why that should be. Motionreprojection should have no effect on whether you are running at 60Hz or 90Hz.

As you may be aware, if are running 60Hz, motionreprojection means you running at a pretty constant 30fps, whereas at 90Hz, you'll be on 45fps.

So in the end of the day, following the instructions provided by https://vr4dcs.com/2019/09/10/reverb-settings-for-dcs/ (except for SteamVR public beta), Pixel density at 1.0 and SteamVR resolution at 2200x2156 (100%)

I get ~42FPS in F-14 instant action placed on SuperCarrier. With a lot of jaggies, parked a/c not producing any shadows (perhaps a bug). In F-18 writings/marks on MFDs become unreadable, so I have to lean towards them. In general very unpleasant experience.

Any thoughts what I'm doing wrong?

Well, the first thing I would say is that the the Super Carrier is horrendous in VR at the moment. It has the worst frame times of any scenario I have ever seen in DCS. In my experience, this is down to shadows. Try turning shadows off, and you'll see a big difference on the SC.

I don't want to lose shadows, but I have to turn them off when doing a SC mission. I can only assume this situation will improve.

In my opinion, DCS performance in VR is a balance between MSAA, SteamVR SS rate and shadows. Nothing else matters too much.

Try missions away from the SC and bump your SS up to 200%. Keep shadows flat and MSAA off. How does that look?

Thank you for your inputs. I actually chose to experiment with F-14 and SC as this is probably the most demanding combo. Supposedly everything else should be a walk in the park after that.

Have you played much with overclocking to improve your performance? Based on fpsVR screenshot above, what parameters would you have tried to tweak? Cheers

Did you try my earlier suggestion of 200% in anything but SC missions? That will improve clarity in cockpit a lot.

All I would change in your settings are terrain quality to high and water to high. Doesn't seem to affect fps much to bump these up, and the water effect is quite marked.

CPU overclocking should easily get you up to 4Ghz or higher depending on your cooling solution , it will make your CPU frame times better, but you like me are likely bottle necked on your GPU...

Thanks to both.

200% SteamVR SS, all shadows to flat, F-18 over the sea and 45FPS, which is fine. Clarity in cockpit is acceptable now, other items much less jaggy, except all ships' antennas etc, which are horrible.

What's the most efficient way to spend a few FPS on that? Turn on FXAA in Nvidia settings?

Put FXAA on. I can’t see what difference it makes, but it doesn’t seem to cost much in resources terms.

Your only tool on ‘jaggies’ is MSAA. Even at 2x it is a resource hog, however.
