Flamin_Squirrel Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 There are button boxes that cost twice as much with less functionality. And what button box out there has a better layout and more diverse types of button and encoder options at any cost? I'm sure you're right, and I totally accept that view. On the other hand, a Warthog throttle costs less, and has the added complication of moving parts. It's a lot of money, especially with the added risk of being a crowd funded product with no guarantee of delivery.
tintifaxl Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 If you use a credit card you should have a level of protection if the goods never arrive. I don't think so. Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

It's a lot of money, especially with the added risk of being a crowd funded product with no guarantee of delivery. Fair enough. I was one of the first 5 backers so we'll see how it turns out. I'm kind of a aesthetics person also so it matches up with the Warthog throttle well along with the backlist green keyboards, hard drive fans, etc. that I have. :) I rarely Kickstart though, but haven't busted yet, so here's hoping. The only other Kickstarter I did this year was the Pero device by Palmcat. I have no idea how that will turn out, but it was just over a 100 US and it looked kind of interesting.
JackFlash Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 Just to address all the speculation whether or not the backers will receive a box, I can just say that you have my word that we will deliver. We are a proper start up with a great product but we need the funds to start a large scale production. We want this to work out as much as you do. I have friends who has backed because they believe in the product. They have tried the prototype and loves it. I would never ever screw any of you over, let alone any of my friends. And thanks for all the support! My latest project, the Multi Function Button Box can be found at Kickstarter.

The guidelines https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005028834-What-is-a-creator-obligated-to-do-once-their-project-is-funded- say this: We do ask that if a creator is absolutely unable to complete the project and fulfill rewards, they must make every reasonable effort to find another way of bringing the project to a satisfying conclusion for their backers. For more information, see Section 4 of our Terms of Use. "make every reasonable effort" is no money-back-guarantee. Canadus Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 But honestly. Only 26 days left and still a huge amount to be funded / backed. Guess this will hold off even more people. I personally find it a bit overprized too. As someone mentioned above; most likely some of the issues have to be ironed out in this first batch. But I admire that at least someone steps forward with some new idea. Ryzen 5800XD - 32GB RAM - Sapphire RX 7900 XTX - VKB Stuff + MFG Crosswind Pedals Homebase: Southwest Germany

Lynchsl62 Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 I mayy have generated negativity about the Total Controls Box, that was not my intention. I think that the box is well thought out, well laid out and at a good price in comparison to say the VPC button box. I now appreciate that pledging to kickstarter prior to the closure date is risk free for the pledger, sadly after the closure date there is a risk - something that i have personally experienced on other projects to the tune of several hundred dollars. My overall experience of kickstarter is when the product is released - invariably later than anticipated due to over ambitious planning and quality control (don't do remote quality control it is cheaper but in the end fails, be proactive). My issue is that typically the Rev 2 is released shortly therafter that incorporates all the lessons learned (hopefully) in the initial design and assembly. That is why I am waiting, the product looks a great product and I am prepared to wait for the final release at a higher and more profitable price for the project. Peace out... Flamin_Squirrel Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Overpriced compared to what other USB button box? I've done a quick search and sure, most are generic boxes with less features, but the only one that I can find that comes close in price is VPC's box. Most cost half, or less, than this one. So not off to a good start on the value front, and when you combine with the risk of kickstarter, I think this is in the order of twice the price it should be IMO.
jalfrezi Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 The guidelines https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005028834-What-is-a-creator-obligated-to-do-once-their-project-is-funded- say this: "make every reasonable effort" is no money-back-guarantee. It has to actually reach it's target first, which if I'm honest, is looking unlikely at the moment. Project owners have been hit with credit card charge backs in the past, so it does happen. At the end of the day, whenever you buy from someone new, whether that is Winwing, Virpil, or any of the small vendors you take a chance that you might not receive anything. There's always a risk, it's whether you think it's a risk worth taking. Bob_Bushman Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Well it's been said many times. Kickstarter is not a store. You might try and call it an investment, but it's not even that. In short, you are giving the company a gift with a few caveats and you 'might' get a gift in return. The real value for kickstarter is to gauge real market interest, to entice investors with real money, who gets the real dividends. As for the device itself, it looks great, I'm sure it works great. But it's $200 too expensive. Same as with the vpc box. i7 8700k @ 4.7, 32GB 2900Mhz, 1080ti, CV1 Virpil MT-50\Delta, MFG Crosswind, Warthog Throttle, Virptil Mongoost-50 throttle.

JackFlash Posted October 3, 2020 Author Posted October 3, 2020 The difference is if you don't receive anything from those companies, you can get your money back. Ok. This is how it is. We know we have a great product and we really want to share it with you guys. We are a startup with a small margin right now. We simply do not have the funds to produce the minimum of 200 boxes without the backers support. Let’s face it. If we were out to rip you off we could have settled for a much smaller amount. Our other option is to do a “Winwing” and take preorders, but I’m not sure that would be any “safer” for our customers. This option would also mean that if we don’t get enough orders we won’t be able to start production. And this also means that all customers expect a much faster delivery and we can not guarantee that. All in all, the Kickstarter is most fair for all. Us and the customers. This way we can be sure to have enough funds to produce the first batch. And a realistic expected delivery window. Well. If someone has around 50.000 $ to invest that could be a solution. My latest project, the Multi Function Button Box can be found at Kickstarter.
Flamin_Squirrel Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 All in all, the Kickstarter is most fair for all. Us and the customers. No it isn't. Kickstarter allows entrepreneurs to offload much of their financial risk onto other people, while maintaining 100% of the equity in their company. It's a win win for you (and I don't blame you for using it). I, therefore, would not take on that risk for you without something in return: in this case, a heavy discount on the final product, which I personally don't think you're offering at the current prices. Just my honest feedback. Regardless, I hope you succeed.
PB0_CEF Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Personally I think that, if you put aside the financial risk to not be delivered, this tools seems to me the best button box existing for this price :) I can’t find ( at this price ) a better product and I can add that I didn’t find a better product at all (whatever the price) It’s exactly what I need ;) Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk [/url]All known Dynamic Campaign Engine Campaigns Last DCE news : Crisis in PG - Iran-Iraq War - TF-71 - TF80s - War over Beirut ...

Ala12Rv-Birdman Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 19 days to go! Be sure to back us now if you want this to be a part of your setup! Nice set!! However, in my sim rig I'd not be able to install it beside the throttle as you did. Instead, I'd have to place it behind the throttle. And I am thinking about how many gap would be needed between them as your cable seems to extend from the front. In my case that's the only possible placement for it and I don't know it it would fit.
