Hi Wags (Hope you had a good day on your birthday !),

Just wondering whether you've picked a topic for the next producers' note, & hoping you'd forgotten your vow not to let us in on a likely time for the next ones arrival ??

You mentioned that you hoped either you or EB1 would get a video out every 2-3 weeks, and I've waited till the absolute minimum time is almost up before asking about the next one...

(You See - your words come back to haunt you again !!!)

Plus I wanted a thread topic that was unlikely to morph into yet another AH-64 thread...

Cheers,

:-)

Cheers.

Would you rather it morphs into a big, hirsute Russian girl? :D I'm sorry, it takes a while to come down from crack. Oi...

I'd rather see him record an entire mission from start to landing with voice-over only when he's doing something in the cockpit.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Ha - I'd have put money on remembering 2-3 ...

Anyway - Cheers, Looking forward to it - Your first one has done the rounds at work & impressed everyone who's seen it (except my girlfriend, who's desire to appear interested only lasted till halfway through :-)

Thinking of the ABRIS - & I think I've asked this before, but can't remember an answer - is it possible to enter the ABRIS through the ME to programme a flightplan (full screen it - maybe interact with keyboard & mouse ?), or does entering a flightplan in the ME etc automatically feed through to the ABRIS, or do you have to get in the cockpit & programme it from there ?

Or will all be revealed at a later date ?

Cheers.

Ack... I did find a post where I said 2-3, but I was REALLY thinking 3-4 ;) I'll see what I can do about making a video this week if the build decides to cooperate...

No plans for ABRIS in ME now, but you can make a mission, go into it, create route and map annotations, and then save those inputs into the mission file for anyone playing that mission.

Cool,

We'll just have to zoom in till the ABRIS takes up the whole screen then :-)

Do you know/can you say if the ABRIS data is stored as xml in the mission archive (.Zip or .rar ? doesn't .rar support non-standard character sets better ?), or is it just the mission details that are xml ?

Cheers.

how often are you seeing a new build?

Sweet!

Lots of pages to fiddle with

I just hooked up a second monitor to my computer and it would be awesome to display the ABRIS there, any news on this?

Nice! Learning ABRIS alone will take some time! I love it.

Great-very informative.

Uploading at youtube right now.

btw: What does ABRIS stand for again?

EDIT: Damn, youtube says the video is too long. I don't have time now to split the video- sorry.

Why is the barometric altitude changing from -50 to -200 before returning to 10 meters?

ABRIS continuously calculated own altitude via satellite navigation systems NAVSTAR or GLONASS with certain error depend of satellites numbers, position and some other factors. With movements the calculations is more accuracy.

Fascinating!

Matt notes that ABRIS and the INS are completely independent systems that do not share data. Does this mean when the GLONASS/NAVSTAR is down and I navigate with the INS, I wont be able to use the moving map display?

Well, it would be very rare to lose complete constellation coverage, so most of the time you'd be dealing inaccuracies on the map based on what is and is not over-threshold. However, if you were to remove all nav. satellites from the mission (yes, you can customize this coverage), then the AMMS would be useless.
