Ground combat concerns

Just to let people know who haven't already purchased.

 

Do not buy the Persian Gulf Map if you plan to have any moving ground units on the map as its currently unplayable and ED seem unwilling to acknowledge the issue.

That's a ridiculous title - It's my favourite map...

 

Even accepting you believe (as you stated in the other thread you started to talk about exactly the same thing) it "does not work with combined arms" - that makes more sense as a title for your new thread...

Not really a ridiculous title it's a warning that the map is broke from a combined arm's perspective, a.k.

a , a moving ground war.

 

It may be your favourite Map but you clearly dont play competative multiplayer missions that use a moving ground war or use tac commander and just fly against static pve fixtures otherwise you would understand the problem.

 

It's also my favourite map, but only from the air.

 

There's a reason no third party has done a campaign on this map for sale, because the missions if had to move units wouldn't work!! The map is broke and currently non feasible to suggest otherwise well that is ridiculous.

When did you raise a ticket with ED, including the usual track file and what has been there response so far?

Nothing to do with the fact it's the newest map and only just left early access a few months ago...

Thats the whole point this map shouldn't be out of EA its looks pretty but from a usability on ground war its non operational. Its Alpha at best.

As mentioned in the thread you linked we have many route finding issues reported already in the Public test open beta.

 

If you want to report a specific issue include a track replay.

Yeah man, you can raise a query with management if you have an issue but you can't stand outside a shop waving a sign saying "DO NOT BUY" it is borderline slanderous, in fact. :shocking:

iirc, DCS is primarily a flight sim; Combined Arms is an accessory to add another level of depth to the experience. Most people (imho) using the sim don’t usually get into the ground troops side of things, and if they do, there’s several maps which do work for ground ops.

 

To tell everyone to not buy PG is excessive, even for the “boots” amongst us. Something informative, such as “Before buying PG, be aware it doesn’t work with CA” would target your specific audience and not potentially scare off the primarily pilot types.

You know that this is not really map specific ? It was a global AI (not MAP) bug/issues, which has been resolved for the most part. It is still present in some situation, but it is 100000 miles away from not being playable, works fine for the most part

Not to mention the terrain mesh is a mess in multiple areas of the map... which is just another reason ground combat is not great in the PG map.
