With nVidia getting DLSS right with version 2.0 and DCS suffering from very poor VR performance (not a dig... just a reality) it seems this could be a great solution.

Fantastic for ED, fantastic for us users, and a clear advantage over other unnamable products.

Where did you see the info on DLSS 2.0? Would like to read up a little on it.

Thanks!

Search YouTube for DLSS 2.0 there are dozens of videos doing deep dives on it. TLDR: it works now, requires much less effort from game devs, the image quality is very good.

RTX card only supports DLSS.

Features like this are really increasing the performance to cost ratio of this cards. This is very good from nvidia.

Our DCS world engine should be evolving to take advantage of these new and ground breaking software technology.

We really need this in dcs.

Am just waiting for the 3000 series to launch and then key in.

Nvidia only tech = NO GO!

Sorry, but ED must consider AMD users as well.

Translation: If I cannot have good performance then no one should....

Seems like a great business model.

No. This is why ED builds their own tech, to avoid gfx card specific features like this. They have to consider other cards too. Hopefully they can create their own version someday. Maybe it's something they're looking into since EDGE is pretty outdated now.

Isn't it going to freak out every time it sees something entirely new just like any other deep learning technology? I mean that's a weakness of any deep learning technology over normal software solutions.

It's good for games where content isn't going to change. In case of ED, they would have to re-learn the AI every time when there's something entirely new being added or changed. This does not sound so appealing.

Place for my own opinion: Deep learning is BS unless you want to make things once and never touch them again. Otherwise you are just going to be fixing it endlessly.

DLSS if it did work, would only help your performance related to the GPU, like running higher pixel density. Most of the performance bottleneck in DCS and especially VR in DCS is from the CPU

DLSS won’t help that.

Translation: Dont Spend Money on an Graphics Feature that less than 10% of the Total Market of Gamers can use, and even less for DCSW Users.

There's Open Source Versions of DLSS.

And IIRC, DLSS Running on an AMD GPU Offer Better Visual Quality and Performance.

RTX/RTX DLSS 2.0 Driver now Just offloads it to the Tensor Cores to get a performance boost.

The Tensor Core is a Simple AI Core, it's nothing special, and basically sits unused on your GPU.

They are fast, but they are not as precise.
