Coxy_99 Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Really honestly no idea this is not added to the map bit of a strange one.
Fred901 Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Other airfields will be added later. I think Biggin Hill will be part of it because it was a very active airfield !
Beirut Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Biggin Hill is to WWII airfields what Guinness is to beer: A Classic! Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
Ercoupe Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Well niether is Duxford, or Debden. What the hell...make the bases that are there whatever field you want them to be. I don't see this as a big deal. What worries me is how this is going to run on my machine with all of that detail.
REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 You don't see it as a big deal- fine. Those that care about historical accuracy do. The fields in the map are primarily forward auxilliary bases. The proper home bases of the RAF squadrons are mssing, and would allow for the recreation of proper historical missions and scenarios, which for many, is exactly what this is all about.
DD_Fenrir Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Ercoupe - the issue is the two airfields you reference are not even within the map limits; Biggin Hill very much is and is one of the primary fighter airfields in the region. It's absence is surprising considering how important it is for any historical operations from 1940 till the end of hostilities. While I understand you sentiments and would, for example, perhaps limit the number of Kent ALGs - prototypically you could have as many as 11(!), currently we have 1 - Biggin as a permanent station of some considerable significance is glaring in its omission.
Beirut Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 I'm positive this map will see some good updates and Biggin Hill will be included. The other maps have all seen nice improvements. So will this one. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

I guess like other maps before now they have to optimize the thing and add stuff. Many aerodromes can be placed within the detailed area (like Biggin Hill), but we'll see, and hope so, if the lower detailed area surrounding the detailed one features stuff like Normandy map does with England coast, including Duxford as mr Grey said.
