ggrewe Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Damn Admiral - you are our genius! Admiral = Genius Was thinking that you should create the whole square bridge island structure of the USS Longbeach as a static object - as well, & we can link to the Nimitz or Forrestal, as a stand-in for the Enterprise (for eye candy) - but would be too small to replace the existing island, anyway - pity!
Admiral189 Posted November 6, 2021 Author Posted November 6, 2021 Thanks Grewe! No need too. I have a model of the Enterprise but carriers are large projects. Lot of space to cover. It would take me months to complete. Maybe one of the teams out there will bring one to life. Great idea by the way. 1

Tomcat-Flyer Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Hi Admrial, is it possible for you to create a HH-60H Rescue Hawk out going from your SH-60B?

I'm truly amazed by your work! I've been checking the Admirals's Cornor to see if any new ships have been released. I hope I'm using the correct link becuase I saw somewhere that you have a new link to Admirals Cornor! I just don't want to miss anything. I know your clearly a NAVY Man, I have a question about the A-6A. The mod is great, but it will only allow me to place just one aircraft instead of four, is there a way I can fix this? Again thanks for all your hard work, I know that the DCS Community is very grateful!! On 11/5/2021 at 8:10 AM, Admiral189 said: Marroux you always seem to amaze me with your photos. I think the Apache's downwash lifted those flaps. They may be covering some cables or something and they lifted up when the Apache lifted off. Thanks for the video Shrike88! I see models out of there of her but wayy too costly. USS Bowen FF-1079 will be released this weekend. All weapons work. I'm not putting a lot of detail in her. I will keep it simple. USS Bainbridge is next in line! Hi Admiral, I hate to bother you, but I don't see any of these ships in Admirals Cornor. The last ship that was released was the Sub, Los Ageles Class. I Hope I'm not missing anything! I'm currantly running the stable version of DCS and it's be fully updated. Thanks, Timex2
Admiral189 Posted November 13, 2021 Author Posted November 13, 2021 Hey Greg, Sorry but i'm still working on the model. I haven't had a lot of time lately so it's been slower than expected. It's coming! Tomcat-Flyer what is the biggest difference between the SH-60B and the HH-60H? i'm sure it's possible. 1
Admiral189 Posted November 13, 2021 Author Posted November 13, 2021 I think she is close to being ready for release. I've spent too much time on her already. I did what i could to correct the bow but it's not working out for me. When i was stationed aboard her i don't remember ever seeing any stationary weapons so i may not add any 50 Cals unless requested. 8
DJ Reonic Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 (edited) My $0.02: Put whatever weapons on a ship that would make it useful for its intended purpose, while staying reasonably realistic. The ships in the game are not 100% realistic, but are reasonably useful for their intended purpose. If the 50 cals help make the ship more useful, then I'd say just add them, but if it does not affect the true usefulness of the ship, then it is not necessary. Edited November 13, 2021 by DJ Reonic
crazyeddie Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 Every Warship carries a wide variety of small arms Admiral, particularly machine guns of varies types, put whatever you like on her. The concept of the armed matelot charging down the gangway to rescue the fair maiden from the wicked warlord still persists in modern navies - mind - I think they might be hard pressed to find a real 'maiden' these days. The image of a matelot armed with a gun still scares the crap out of me - we used to say that the only place to be in a fire fight involving matelots was behind them. Only joking - all matelots are salts of the earth, just a tad dangerous with real ammunition !!! 1
Admiral189 Posted November 13, 2021 Author Posted November 13, 2021 With that said 50 CALs it is. Some weapons to protect against small armed boats.. I'm working on Bainbridge also. I'm actually working three models at once. I do this to keep from getting bored with one model. I just put a lil effort into each one of them. 4

Admiral189 Posted November 16, 2021 Author Posted November 16, 2021 (edited) Thanks Greg! I appreciate it! There's an IOWA Class out there already. If i had that model i could easily add the Tomahawks to it. Not sure whose the Arthur! I will be releasing the USS Bowen within the next hour. I've already put too much energy into it.. Somethings i just can't correct on her. I hope you all Enjoy her. I will continue working on the USS Bainbridge!! Edited November 16, 2021 by Admiral189 2
crazyeddie Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Admiral - Hawkeye has the original Iowa stuff, I think he did try to make a modern version of it with Tomahawks etc but I dont know if he ever finished it, the conversion to add the missiles required a lot of extra work on the superstructure and removal of stuff from the Quarterdeck etc, it was a big job. That said ... with your skills everything is possible, it would be a terrific addition. I did make a start on updating the skins for it, removing all the WW2 markings etc and did a quick post modern version for him, if you go ahead let me know and I will find that stuff again and finish it. 4

I really wish there were some Virginia class models that weren't so expensive. At least from 88 and 91 cruises though looks like early Ticonderoga class were assigned such as Yorktown. Looks like we also need at least some skins of the older Ticos if not some mods to possibly backdate some systems. Looks like Adams class DDG and Farragut class DLG/DDG were also in the mix. There's so many classes before we slimmed down to the Tico/Burke/OHP classes. Oh, and if you saw my comments above there were some NATO ships Forrestal operated with on exercises and cruises. Looks like there's a Bremen class frigate model out there, haven't seen the Spanish F72 though. Heatblur Rivet Counting Squad™ VF-11 and VF-31 1988 [WIP] VF-201 & VF-202 [WIP]

I was going to upload the model from the original 2016 mod, but sounds like you have even better one for the Iowa class. I've been getting back into Mission Editor and having a battleship would really bring the Persian Gulf missions to life. 2 i7-4770K @3.50GHz; EVGA 1070 8GB Superclocked; 16GB Ram; MSI Z97 Gaming; two Samsung 500GB SSD's in RAID; TrackIR; 32" 2560x1440 Samsung
Admiral189 Posted November 16, 2021 Author Posted November 16, 2021 Working the Iowa is a very big job. The weapons alone will take a long time to animate and code. I've found that once you start altering a model. It's very easy to mess something up and it would be just as difficult to repair it. I would rather create an Aircraft Carrier before i would create an Iowa Model. I praise the person that created it. I remember in the late 80s i use to see all those ships in Norfolk, VA. All lined up onbase. 1
Admiral189 Posted November 16, 2021 Author Posted November 16, 2021 USS Bowen FF-1079 has been released. Page 1 #22. Enjoy guys! USS Bowen (DE-1079/FF-1079) was a Knox-class frigate of the United States Navy. She was named for Vice Admiral Harold G. Totally understandable, I was serious about donating, a community gofundme could be set up, I never expect someone to work for free and you've already done so much for the community. I primarily play DCS for the carrier fighters and multi-role, but the missions that one can create in ME are so immersive and there was a huge gap in the naval side and you've helped to fill that. 1 i7-4770K @3.50GHz; EVGA 1070 8GB Superclocked; 16GB Ram; MSI Z97 Gaming; two Samsung 500GB SSD's in RAID; TrackIR; 32" 2560x1440 Samsung
