bkthunder
See the "drawing' attached for explanation. Basically, the nozzles are missing internal geometry when closed. You can easily compare this with the F-16 (basically the same engine), or see the diagram on the NATOPS. Juancio
See the "drawing' attached for explanation. Basically, the nozzles are missing internal geometry when closed. You can easily compare this with the F-16 (basically the same engine), or see the diagram on the NATOPS. There's a lot of missing details in there, for instance, the afterburner combustion rings and the turbine behind it are just 1 single low res texture instead of proper 3d models. I hope they can improve this a little bit or just use the f-16 nozzle altogether if possible.
IronMike
Just a heads up guys, since I replied that to BK in a pm as well: we have atm no intentions of improving that. It is an internal part one has to specifically look for, not easily visible or in sight, and hence just a ton of extra texturing work, that is better applied elsewhere in our opinion. Yes, such detail is always great to have, but we need to draw a line somewhere. We already put in a significant surplus of work compared to other DCS modules when it comes to details, in depth modeling, etc... Maybe, some day, after all is done and for some reason there is time left for that, we will take a second look, but please don't expect it. Thank you for your kind understanding. I designated it as no bug, although technically it is a "missing feature", but one that we never really intended to be there. IronMike
Thank you Fwind, we have all that. It's just something we likely will never do. Anything related to the outside being wrong takes immediaty priority, but inside of the engines is just a ton of work for very little return. Hey IronMike, I saw your PM but didn't have time to answer that. Appreciate your response though ;) I'll say here that while I understand internal vs external details priority, I'd argue that the terminal part of the engine nozzles is not really an internal detail, as it is in plain view when lookign at the back of the plane. I fully agree that turbine and spray-bars can be a texture. But the nozzle is very visible. So let me clarify further, in hope that you will re-consider this: we just need the inside turkey feathers (the ones that are visible) to stay horizontal when the nozzle is closed. the other inside geometry is not so necessary. IronMike
We'll think about it, and I'll keep it in the back of my mind, but pls understand that if anything it will have to be rather at the end of an already very long list. Thanks bud. Nealius
I gotta be honest, this level of nitpicking is insane. I've looked through all the photos in this thread and I cannot see the difference or what's wrong. And this is from someone who gets VERY detail-oriented with scale models.... LanceCriminal86
If time is to be spent working on the exterior model, I think most would rather have the different TCS variants available. No TCS, bullet fairing, TCS, and sneak in the D TCS for AI use or pretending it's a D. Rainmaker
Just gee-wiz info but to put it in better prospective for understanding. Nozzles have dive and con seals. Not something you notice with engines that have the outter fairings installed, but look at something like an eagle motor that has the seals exposed and it’s easier to understand.
