What is your preferred combat helicopter and why??

the AH 64 D

it is ugly like a racecar but sophisticated like a bulldozer or tank.

it has superior target aquisition systems and a nice range.

alot of good tankbusting missiles and a nice 30mm canon for lightly armoured vehicles and personal.

so all together with the 2 man cockpit it sums up to be for me the most powerfull helo that is on the market and combat tested.

 

the eurocopter tiger is about the same, just does not have enough weapons

like the ah-64d apache paired with the Kiowa for scouting and target acquisition..

 

what woul be cool for a future rendition of dcs, is a 4 man squad..

 

pilot/gunner for apache and pilot/optics for kiowa

Dont want to go into too much detail but its just awesome, im glad DCS launched the series with the KA50 first, if only they were able to get permissions for the F22 to develop, though its not going to happen ever unfortunately :(

Since it's really mean looks.. and it were so many good (for their time) sims for it (well 3 i think).

Played with the Apache hokum etc etc..community mix, and had a little fun, but then the Ka-50 came with a lot of fun!

 

And really nice since it's a single seater!

Depends on what you want to kill. But my personal favorite is OH-58D Kiowa Warrior. That chopper is a freakin' Reaper in Afghanistan right now. Couple it with an A-10C and do some real damage.

You think they look a bit weak but when i got to climb inside one and walk around it and touch it you do feel a bit fuzzy inside. A wise choice for the future on the Australian military's part.

Ka-50. Always been ever since I first lay my eyes on it in the 90's. Such a wonderful little aircraft - it's like the A-10 for fixed wing attack; has so much personality in design and looks.

Just sat in the latest at the Army's AUSA show last week in DC. It had two miniguns, a GAU-19, and a pod with 7 APKWS. Not to mention its ISR capabilities...

The AH64D because it has Radar and in a sim situational awareness is critical.
