AIM-7 is Home on Jam capable. So yes, in a sense, it can be active as long as you keep your jammer on.

If you think it's seomthing else, please provide a track.

I don't know much about all this, but this was discussed here not so long ago. Please read till the end.

And by my understandifng ive been told HeatBlur are using there own aim-7s?

On the contrary, I believe ED has now complete control over all weapons featured in the game, to avoid disprepancies between modules.

You don't need the range to use proportional navigation...

Its a bug thread not a debate the aim-7 is active and will be double checked also no way you can turn cold drop lock.

I'm just pointing out that HOJ can use proportional navigation and can lead the target so your claim that HOJ = Pure pursuit is false, no need to feel attacked.

It's interesting to see, that in pretty much all the threads like this, it is always a Mirage that is the target. That's not suprising, given that Mirages have working jammers (unlike the Hornet and Viper) and often fly around with them turned on leading to the Sparrow to use HOJ.

Heatblur uses their own AIM-7s; you can find them in the entry.lua in CoreMods/F-14/Weapons(?), along with the AIM-54s. However, they basically copy the code from EDs AIM-7s so usually isn't much of an issue.

Heatblur's AIM 7 is an active missile ? I had no idea.

...because it isnt? Its an unintended bug, as it does not happen in all situations

I have an interesting story that may or may not be relevant:

2 F-14s fire a sparrow at the same target (I was in the lead one, the one that shot first)

the enemy fires one back and hits us, totals the 14, instant no power, no engines, both wings off, we eject.

the enemy gets killed and we naturally assumed our wingman killed him

in the tacview, it turned out that our missile did hit, despite us being out of the fight a few seconds before contact. We came to the conclusion that the aim-7 we fired was homing in on the target due to its illumination by our wingman's radar, which was guiding its own aim-7 at the time.

This might have happened to you maybe?

SARHs cannot guide on buddy illumination in DCS. What you are probably experiencing is either a) the 4(?) second radar memory mode bug, or b) the missile HOJ'd. Alternatively, it could be the bug everyone has been experiencing.

unless something changed recently:

there is only one ECM type in the game, and all aircraft with ECM have that same ECM. its only a boolean flag - ecm on or off.

there is no difference in types, there is no difference in strength/range. jf-17, f-14, viggen, mig-21 in the game all have the same ECM so to speak.
