I know that at my age people get melancholic, so I apologize in advance. I want to start by saying a very sincere thank you.

Since I was a child, I loved everything related to combat aviation. In my particular case, I started flying at the age of 19 in the Argentine Air Force in 1988, on a B45 Mentor trainer. Over time I was lucky enough to fly in several others and be a fighter pilot flying IA58 Pucará and Mirage V Finger (previously under the name Mirage V Dagger). A couple of decades later (with even one ejection under my belt!) I left the Air Force and flew Airbus A320 and Boeing B767 on Airline, reaching 8000 flight hours. Unfortunately all good things have an end, and that was this year. Due to COVID19 I lost my job because the company I was flying in (LAN) left my country. Adding other personal reasons I was forced then to leave this exciting profession and retire.

The truth is that I always loved combat simulation and it is for that reason that in the different PCs that I had, your wonderful software was installed on my disks. No doubt that in all this time it was a great pleasure to enjoy different modules, since the A10 to the F18C (now in the Supercarrier) and the F14A to name a few. The Spitfire IX recently and hopefully the De Havilland Mosquito soon!!

Going back to the beginning, I want to thank you for allowing all of us, fans of combat flight simulation, to enjoy it in what I think is the closest way that exists to reality. Because I have no doubt what you have given us is just this, without any parallel and in a way never seen before, to truly experience the operation of a weapons system.

A few days ago I saw the video ¨2021 and Beyond¨, and I heard you saying thanks, so I thought I had to tell you. That is wrong. In my opinion, we should be grateful, because otherwise if not for you, we could not experience the pleasure that only a simulation of the quality that DCS has given us, could be achieved.

I wish you a superb and wonderful Christmas, enjoy a deserved very good time with your loved ones, and sincerely, THANK YOU !!

Absolutely, a warm thank you to the whole ED-team, every pogrammer, coder, reseacher, manager, and all you other wonderfull people that I haven't mentioned by profession. Your work cannot be measured by any metrics, it's groundbreaking every single time. You deserve praise and respect, much more than you get. Just remember that we are all here thanks to you, thanks to what you fantastic people created. Be proud, because you make dreams come true. Merry Christmas to all of you, enjoy your time with your families, stay safe and fly high.

Sincerely

zerO

Meh, landing takes too long sometimes. The silk express is better.

Beautifully put, and I totally agree.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you ED for the early Christmas gift by way of the Free To Play starting on December 22nd.

I just bought the Mi-8MTV2 during this most recent Winter sale and the Spitfire during the last sale.

I look forward to all the new modules coming and to the updates to the OLD CLASSICS.

Merry Christmas!

Agree with the OP 100%

We're all stuck at home during a pandemic Christmas, can't visit family, can't hang out with friends, and then DCS comes along like Santa and offers a few weeks full of toys for everyone. Whoever decided to do the free trial over Christmas is first rate. It's not only good business because it creates a very happy and loyal customer base, but it's also just kind of a nice thing to do.

Thanks DCS. All the best to all of you. :drinks_cheers:

Many thanks for the kind words. It's not lip service when we say that we could not do this without you and all of our customers.

Onwards and upwards for 2021!

Kind regards,

Wags

Serious question though: Why do Steam user get 10 days shaved off?

I didn't think it was quite that big of difference, but ED has previously said that Steam restricts the length of sales (so presumably this too).  Not an ED choice, it's a Steam one

Yet another reason I'll be switching to stand alone soon.

Thank you very much OP, because I feel totally identified with your words of gratefulness.

Thank you very much ED, for letting us be part of this, never in my 32 years of pure passion for combat aviation and simulated aviation (here in particular since flanker 2. 0 and already a simmer since I was 10) I've felt so fulfilled and amazed.
Some days ago I received a new VR hp reverb g2 and while fliying around and practicing procedures from wwII prop planes up to an agile F16c I stopped for a second and thought, this is utterly amazing, it's the closest I've ever been to my once awaited dream of becoming a fighter pilot, how have we got to this point, wonderful times for us simmers.

Have all a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!

Switch is complete. Happy to report I just purchased my first non-Steam module, the FA-18

Hat tip to Andrey & Alexandr for their help.

First post -- even though I play flightsims since the very first Flanker simulation that Eagle Dynamics released in the 90's.

Thanks very much to the OP, I agree with everything you said so much that I desided to (finally) create an account and say Thanks!

It's amazing how far DCS has come and how we can all experience such detailed systems. I will bring myself up to speed with many modules the upcoming weeks and give Eagle Dynamics the much deserved credits, my cc is charged and ready.

Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas!
