MadMaxter Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I thought I would start a discussion to see what the community would like to see in a comprehensive naval mod for DCS. Don't be shy. Planes and systems, anything you can think of. Keep it US Navy though, please. Thanks MadMax CO VNAO http://www.virtualnavairops.com http://www.carrierpilots.com [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Proud founder of VNAO and current deck jockey with VFA-103:pilotfly::pilotfly:
PythonOne Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I would like to see an F-14 and F-18 model that is up to ED's standard. So it is very detailed. No offense to the VNAO guys, I know you put a lot of work into the F-14 model, but there are some things that are inaccurate, such as the shape of the canopy.
ruprecht Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) - EA-6, F-14 or F/A-18C/E, carrier capable - a working detailed Nimitz- or Ford-class supercarrier and carrier battle group, incl AI air cover operations Edited July 16, 2008 by ruprecht DCS Wishlist: | Navy F-14 | Navy F/A-18 | AH-6 | Navy A-6 | Official Navy A-4 | Carrier Ops | Dynamic Campaign | Marine AH-1 | Streaming DCS sometimes:
Boberro Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Agree with preceding speaker (pythonOne) - for me counts example model reality. I know how it is difficult to create even simple models, but if some groups wanna make it serious, it is required to make a correct models shapes, size and other smaller and bigger things. Next ideas will come later xD Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
ThunderChief Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I would suggest to start with something "easy" as F-8 or A-4 or even C-2.
Cosmonaut Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 F-18A/E, F-14. Mig-29K, Su-33 (the 33 that can air refuel would be cool too) Helicopters with anti sub capabilities that work which means I also would like to see Submarines that actually work with the ability to fire tomahawk missiles and the subs themselves have to be able to be tracked and destroyed. Cozmo. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Minimum effort, maximum satisfaction. CDDS Tutorial Version 3. | Main Screen Mods.

ThunderChief Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 As the map of BS will be smaller than in LO I guess there will be only a small part of the Black Sea included. I wonder if that has an impact on simulation of naval ops ...
Avimimus Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) Moskva Class (of course)... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/68/DoD-Leningrad-DN-SN-90-07612_50pct.jpg Maybe an An-72P... http://www.airliners.net/photo/Russia---Air/Antonov-An-72P/1369891/L/&tbl=photo_info&photo_nr=6&sok=WHERE__(airline_%3D_%27Russia_-_Air_Force%27)_&sort=_order_by_photo_id_DESC_&prev_id=1370114&next_id=1369890 It would also be neat to see a Ka-29... http://www.aviastar.org/foto/ka-29.jpg That said I'd personally take an OH-58A (or other light utility copter) or a normal An-70 (or other transport aircraft) in preference. predaeus Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Seahawks, (JayHawks, go CoastGuard?), Hawkeyes (love the turboprops) Tarawa/Wasp, Frigates, anything you can land on with a helicopter. Harriers, Prowlers Supply ships, to do hoisting of stuff from ship to ship. SAR missions hoising pilots out of water, insertions, extractions, standby while fighters take off from carrier ... Since water is not modelled interestingly yet, to get a good feeling, simulation of carrier deck operations etc. with people on the deck and all those radio conversations would really help for immersion. EDIT: sorry if some of the mentioned vehicles would be considered Marines only

Aeroscout Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Tomcats (A or D), Hornets (C variant), SAR choppers (SH-60, SH-3, ya know, Sikorsky stuff) Oh, and a good carrier! DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Esac_mirmidon Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I am more interested in russian navy. Su-33, Mig-29KUB like indian ones, Su-25KUG, Ka-27, Ka-32, ... " You must think in russian.." Vekkinho Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I'd like to see a flyable Hornet C or D, but a ED one meanng it's flyable and fully functional, not replacing Su-33 like current modded Hornets do. Hornet that features all DCS standards, starting with AFM and poly, ending with lifelike cockpit and realistic systems! OK SuperBug is a classified ATM, but older A,B,C and D may not be so hard to create in DCS standard! Guess it would even up the odds from LOFC! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

About the Hornet, there are TONS of aerodynamic and FBW data round the net (round the NASA Dryden page specifically :P ). I think it's a well-documented aircraft but what ED wants in my opinion is more participation from F/A-18 operators, because they need not only a lot of manuals but tons and tons of pictures, videos and pilot feedback also. So, in the meantime USAF/US Army and Russian Air Force are ED's cooperators, US Navy is not, and I think this is the hardest obstacle to avoid for seeing DCS:F18 some day. Regards!! amalahama Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 What's with US Marine Corps?! I don't know - I wonder if they aren't inside the US Navy influence for these sort of things. Some time ago the Hornet appeared in the possible-flyable fighters, maybe someday we will fly virtually on it, meanwhile there will be a lot of different airplanes with lots of fun. But I'm with you, only a detailed Hornet, I don't like the two-head radioactive experiment products with Su-33, F-14 and Hornets in FB. Regards!!
Vekkinho Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 ...or Spain?! Anyway, Hornet's what I wan't! Pretty good Multirole platform, isn't it?! SEAD, Strike, Fighter...you name it... Cheers m8! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Stratos Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Russian navy with a modern A-G plane I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
amalahama Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 ...or Spain?! Spanish Hornet are not carrier-capable and have some indigenous modification taking advantage of EF-2000 development: American Hornets and Spanish hornets have different software suit too (the EF-18 has a spanish one, developed by CLAEX); there are some differences so I don't think the people prefer a ground-based Hornet really. Regards!!
borchi_2b Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 ok, here we go. the only plane that is needed for a us navy mod is the f-18. although i think this bird looks really ugly, it is the best the navy has right now. it is more manuverable then the f-14, it has good medium range air to air weapons. it is a dual role fighter, that can also destroy sams in long range. it is carrier capable. it can be provided as singel or 2 seater. and one of the most important things, it is one of the most flexable aircrafts in the world that is operated right now. i think there is no real need for the tomcat to be included into BS, cause what do you want to do. play maverick chasing mig28 in black with red stars on the tail. LOL the tomcat is a nice plane but outdated by today and also in the time DCS will take place. the us navy only used the tomcat in the last years cause they had to wait for the new f-18 super hornet that has more range, more pylons, new electronics etc etc. so it is nice to see a new tomcat in the DCs series but not as flyable. that is timewasting http://www.polychop-sims.com
empeck Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I'd love to see A-4 Skyhawk. F-14, EA-6, E-2 and S-3 would be great too (I'm not a big fan of Hornets).

Stratos Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Amalahama why the spanish Hornets are not carrier capable? The pilots even train in carrier procedures, even in our AF, they train hook use, and AFAIK, the Spanish Hornets are normal F/A-18A I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
