Yes sir, the last word must always belongs to you, sir. :P

Indeed it does. ;)

So let's now be careful about carrying on this derail for too long. WishList item entered, derail about arcade/sim priority differences performed... We're now officially on the internet. :)

LOL Etherealn

I oknow this has ben said sevral times but I am going nust in need for groop in zone. Haveing to creat 20+ triggers for a convoy mission is driving me nuts. Just to have 1 thing happen. And I usaly have to creat 6+ event triggers. With a 12 car convoy that is over 72 triggers to make. it is mindnuming.

Always confuses me why people like having high definition models/textures of things you'll only see from a min of 200m, and mostly several miles (through a weapon display screen).

Can imagine it being fun for the 3D artists though. Only moaning if it has an effect on my FPS!

Too many cowboys. Not enough indians.

Not everyone prefer realism over graphics - true. That's why many play Wings of Prey.

That's right, but dont forget, more advanced/realistic graphics also means more realism. Imagine Blackshark with all these cockpit clicks with graphics/models from Comodore. Wouldn't be too realistic, would it?

All I wish is DCS to be as realistic as possible, but with improved graphics, adjusted to today's standards. Hope im not alone with that issue, and I know the things are going in the right direction :)

Agree DCS model is really good, very good and maybe even great ;]

Wel, not bad, but could be better ;)

Ermm, DCS is one of the, if not THE best flight simulator we have right now, when it comes to realistic graphics.

Mind that most military simulators don't have graphics that top out the ones we have right now, and these are the last word in terms of realism. So if they don't have fancy graphics, it's because it isn't needed for realism as you say.

Our graphics are more than enough for a realistic simulator. It's not the Hollywood-style Wings of Prey, nor the cartoonish Flight Simulator (what are you looking at? That's right - I said cartoonish!), nor the somewhat outdated (yet good) Il-2 graphics (mind it was released 9 years ago, of course). The DCS (and Lock On as well) graphics are some of the best out there in terms of realism.

I've seen few, if any, flight simulators with such a good mix of eye-candy and realistic look (considering only the released ones so far).

Just look at these screenies:

attachment.php?attachmentid=36424&stc=1&d=1266766712

attachment.php?attachmentid=36425&stc=1&d=1266766712

attachment.php?attachmentid=36426&stc=1&d=1266766712

I dare you to find some combat simulator with better looking graphics, honestly.

And by the way, that's wrong with the AH-64? The model is perfect. As ugly as the real one, yet as beautiful as the real one. A paradox, really :music_whistling:

Baaaack on topic now:

I know someone in this community is working on this right now, but it would be nice if ED did this:

Include a map of the region in the game box. Some games have done this, I know Bethesda Softworks did it with Oblivion, granted that wasn't the most detailed map and just gave a rough scale and such, but since this is modeled on real world terrain, sattelite imagery could be used. And then also maybe include a .pdf file on the game disk with a map you can print out to use on a kneeboard, so when you are reading through the mission briefing you can print out a map page pertaining to the area where you will be operating, and draw different things on it-the front line, where friendly units will be and their expected routes, where KNOWN enemy units are, etc.

Not sure what the scale would be. But detailed enough that you could quickly look at it.

IMHO it would be something like a sattelite images with a topographical overlay.

This would be awesome and would deff. help with mission planning, and as a mission designer it would help as well, being able to look at the map and plan out routes for the helo, ground units, etc. Currently I am using Google Earth to do this, but would much prefer a piece of paper to draw on.

If this post doesn't make any sense at all, let me know and I'll try and clarify. I'm tired/medicated and rambling. haha. =)

Seems like your screenies don't work.

How about a better parachute flight model and a hand gun?

Well I don't think it may be so effective for killing tanks. But have to agree with a parachute idea as a very important part of air combat sims...:megalol:

I think to create more atmosphere the cockpit must be damageable too. Or the glass must be broken by shoots. Like IL-2. Why we dont have it =(

OV-10 Bronco

I first saw the Bronco while downloading freeware for FSX. I was instantly attracted to it because it resembles the P-38 lighting (at least it does for me). The OV-10 was designed in the 60's yet still remains relevant to this day. This aircraft was used as recently as Desert Storm. Boeing is even making a modern version called the OV-10X. I thought this aircraft was pretty cool. Take a look and tell me what you think.

Dear Sirs,

1. waiting for communications enhancement, is't possible add new trigger rule "selected frequency"?

In this way, will be possible receive messages and/or sounds only when player have selected suitable frequency.

2. when in twilight weather conditions, FARPs and airbases lacking of enough lighting.

Please, activate FARPs/airbases lighting before twilight!!! Please ...

3. is't possible to avoid voice of player. I clearly understand what I request, order, etc.

Please, is't possible to add selection PlayerVoice Y or N in options menu?

Thank You very much. Best regards.

Hey now, some of us have had days where we see more of the parachute than we do the pit

we had lots and lots of OV-10's at NATO airbases. They are boring. They really are not very glamorous, nor exciting. They perform valuable functions, but as far as thinking about adding fun of any type, don't count on it. Not bashing them, they just didn't add any excitement in real life. I hope I don't get (real) OV pilots here mad at me.. I am just saying..

I wish a whole new start to the DCS/Lock On series. The base being something in the line of MS Flight Simulator series and FC2.0 would act as the base package. Instead of having all these standalone products the basic package would have the low fidelity FC2.0 aircraft and the basic world. Just like in MSFS series. The system would allow simply installing new aircraft to the base package. This would make updating the whole series easier and online compatibility would be easily maintained and guaranteed. Releasing patches to the base only would save alot of trouble compared to releasing all those patches in the current DCS system to make all of the modules up to date and online compatible.

This new system would have:

- a modern new engine that includes multithreading, 64 bit support and all the other features that are standard in modern software

- that would have solid AI (including dynamic campaign)

- new detailed world including a solid dynamic weather engine and advanced physics

- all the rest major features wished by community that I don't remember

- and perhaps an open market for third party developers such as VRS who would be able to develop their high quality aircraft for the platform where they belong. The third party add-ons could be controlled by ED, so that only the best would be accepted to the DCS series.

To me it seems that the current system of standalone modules is terribly awkward for both developers and consumers. Keeping them all up to date and online compatible will require a myriad of patches and will take a huge amount of disk space. Unless ED will pull some magic trick, I'm seeing a DCS: Nightmare.

Yeah sure, they'll jus' rip one up in a month or two.

Not asking for musch, are you....?

You do know how many are on the ED dev team, don't you???..... and their budget???

...and are you gonna help with this??

Good idea bubba.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I didn't say it's easy or even that I'm asking for it. This is a wish thread man and all of those are propably in the dreams of developers also and some are in development. Just laying the concept into text.

I'm well aware of the time it takes to develop this series and I think we all are. 9-10 months for upgrade such as FC2, about 2 years for each module, so what I forgot to say is that I would be ready to wait even like 4 years for that. It's not like I'm demanding the next module to be Raptor or anything. ;)

I'm saying It is a good idea with addons being controlled by ED. unlike what has happened with M$FS, where there are millions of addons with only a few good ones, At either a good price or free.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Is there any way to have multiplayer server settings like for graphics and sound where you can tick what sort of level of checking you want enabled (instead of doing it manually). For example, to have setting if you allow or not export of own data to either display instruments (for cockpits builders) or things like what LEAVU is doing... sharing own info of the radar to others. Basically instead of going manually to set what folders you want checked for integrity to have this in some new tab of multiplayer options menu... I would really like to see something like this in the future

- The Su -34 double seat fighter bomber.

- The New mig 29 with the glass cockpit.

- A F/A-18.

- Nukes (think Falcon 4.0), not allowed in multiplayer, but ok in singleplayer custom missions.

-More Glass cockpits.

-FLIR targeting cameras.

Add the ability to manually sort entries for the trigger list. Currently they are sorted newest to the end of the list. There is no way to arrange them manually to keep track of them better as you add new triggers.

Request: Mission Editor Functionality

Hello there. This is my personal little wishlist for the current mission editor as I find it quite difficult to use quickly now.

> Hotkeys assignable to functions such as Hidden/Dead. Currently the editor is very very mouse orientated, which is quite slow to use.

> Ability to select multiple objects, such as with the copy and paste hotkeys, Cntrl C/V. Especially static objects as once placed these are an absolute bugger to move around.

> More standard scripts available or some documented way of adding more to the list of events a trigger can activate. I.E. Add/Remove weapons/fuel/damage to a unit dynamically, change weather dynamically, change time of day dynamically, add customisable screen dialogues/effects/text to help transition the player smoothly through different stages of a mission i.e. fade in/out.

> Ability to add user drawn symbols/lines to the theatre map / ability to replace the theatre map with an image file. So perhaps instead of the theatre map, you get a scribbled set of coordinates/directions/frequencies or sketch map.

> Ability to change coalitions dynamically or implement a rules of engagement change i.e. War/Peacetime/Ceasefire. In complicated territorial disputes such as Abkhazia/South Ossetia the need for a more complex ROE is essential in my opinion, determinable by events even more so.

> Modulated way to change terrain/theatre without overriding the default map. DCS is a great series however as we saw in 2008 the most the Americans are going to do in Georgia is offer their 'Deepest Sympathy' that they are getting stomped on by the Russians. There are modders making custom terrain and it would be nice to see some variety available in a module format for when DCS A10 arrives.

> Finally and unrealistically (but if you don't ask you'll never get) a realtime 3D preview mode when placing units in the editor. I know we have the multiplayer/singleplayer combine to allow fairly quick viewing but I demand perfection! :D

If there is anything I have mentioned that is possible with the some magickry.lua I do apologise and could you please explain it to me in short ... slow .. sentences :)

Thanks, Jay
