arthuro12 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Xcuse me, but I never saw as much BS as in this Vid. :badmood: Agree. That would be my epic facepalm right there.. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mvsgas Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I was a fan of "DogFights" in the History Channel and I did not like that episode much. It not as entertaining as to hear actual stories told by pilots, beside, to much guess work. I do not buy a missile lunching "Bone". It might be on paper some where but I think that concept alone ruin the show and, to me at least, far fetch and not well thought out. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
GGTharos Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 The missile launching Bone is indeed on paper somewhere, still stuck in Limbo. This stuff was good right until they started going into the 'future'. Some of the biggest BS moments: F-22's using Cobra in a dogfight F-35's top being stealthy R-73 being more resistant to flares than AIM-9X (or were they comparing to 9M? Seriously :P ) Some other miscellaneous things; but what you should take away from this is what AESA radars can do. That was just scratching the surface. 3Sqn_Fudd Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 History channel should stick to history IMHO... +1 The future part is a little too theoretical... but we all know this. http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU
RedTiger Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 LOL...I take it no one's seen the final part of it, if you all think the Raptor and F-35 stuff is BS. US vs. Russian orbital vehicles fighting with directed energy weapons. The funny thing is, this is so far beyond present reality that it ceased to be BS to me and I just kinda shrugged at it. :D
A.S Posted August 24, 2008 Author Posted August 24, 2008 the funny thing is, this is so far beyond present reality :D 10$ against it :smilewink: 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Pilotasso Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 That B-1R is not going to materialize ever. .

mikoyan Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 this episode was totally BS especially when the raptor got into the dogfight, why would be a russian su-35 (with tvc) be surprised by a cobra? A cobra is the last thing an f-22 would do. It rarely works to get you out of trouble. I don't think than an f-22 would beat an f-35 in a dogfight that easily since the f-35 has an improved twr and 3d vector control which is better than the 2d of the raptor in the yaw axis. What I hate the most is that they don't show aces from other countries.
mikoyan Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 imaging having that b1 in lock on, It would be an f-15 with more missiles to waste and with worst maneuverability.
GGTharos Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 this episode was totally BS especially when the raptor got into the dogfight, why would be a russian su-35 (with tvc) be surprised by a cobra? Because it was a Rafale, not a Su-35. Other than that though you're pretty much right about that maneuver being useless. A cobra is the last thing an f-22 would do. It rarely works to get you out of trouble. I don't think than an f-22 would beat an f-35 in a dogfight that easily since the f-35 has an improved twr and 3d vector control which is better than the 2d of the raptor in the yaw axis. Actually the F-35 isn't anywhere near as maneuverable as the F-22 - its thrust vectoring is in the VTOL arena only - the F-22 on the other hand makes use of it in all maneuver regimes. What I hate the most is that they don't show aces from other countries. Don't know of too many modern A2A aces from other countries - except maybe israelis? upyr1 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 That B-1R is not going to materialize ever. It just looked like a dumb idea IMHO the only thing I could see coming out of it was a downed B-1. I could see the 2012 bomber possibly doing the role since it's going to be stealth. You'd have a chance to spamraam and run.
upyr1 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 What I hate the most is that they don't show aces from other countries. Dittos so far the only forign ace I've seen on the show was an Isreali pilot. I wouldl ove to see a British or Russian ace from world war II or Korea.
Esac_mirmidon Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Or maybe Iran Irak air to air engagements. They are very interesting. Phantoms against Mig-21, Mig-23, Su-22.... RedTiger Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 What I hate the most is that they don't show aces from other countries. Double ditto. :D Its an American show made for a general American audience, but not even having ONE, just ONE Luftwaffe ace is something I find less forgivable than all the innacuracies of the 3D dogfights in the series and the silly BS of that future show. You have a country that churned out aces like a machine due to the way it handle its pilots and sorties and you can't find ONE that is still living and interview him...but you'll interview German pilots from the Elbe squadron?
RedTiger Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 See the above ^^^ I assumed he was talking about the previous shows in the series that covered WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Don't know of too many modern A2A aces from other countries - except maybe israelis?
