Agreed, next thing you know we will hear complaints saying how they are not buying the game because the sandbags do not move when you shoot them.

the question is not if sand bags should fly when you blow them up, but do they have an advanced or standard flight model :P

Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.

I do not think it is needed in a flight sim anyway, but good suggestion ...

Ey why not?

Ok, ok, it's Havok, not Physx... anyway, it would be cool a destruction feature like that in a combat flight sim!

Regards!

Because if you dropped a cluster bomb on say a FARP for instance, there would be alot of physics calculations to do of which you'll probably only see a few of..

BUT a nice animation of the sandbags flying about could do just as well in a flight sim I think since you won't see it close up (especially if there were more than one for some variation), you'd record the animations using a physics engine I thinks.

But offcourse if they did use a physics engine for this type of thing it would be mostly eye candy I thinks, and could be scalable by the user.. Being eye candy, you would'nt need to sync it in multiplayer which is otherwise rather tricksy...

I always thought that the Tunguska was completely uber. Carrying missiles and those scary guns is really overkill. :D

@Viper:

Thanks for the video!

I don't think that is a groundunit being engaged by that missile, though. It seems to be a stationary drone that probably acts as a test for low-flying helos.

Another hint is the firing of the missiles. You can see that they are lifted to an angle of around 45° for firing.

The guns on the other hand can be lowered a bit, so I guess the maximum range of 6000m relates to the guns engaging ground-targets. That's also comparable to the German Gepard FlaK-Tank, which has an effective range of somewhat above 5000m against ground-targets.

Whot?! 5000m with an autocannon? That's more like small arms artillery :)

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Well, "effective" probably means, that if you fire enough rounds, you got a chance to kill at least a single soldier. :D

More in the likes of, collateral damage by volume. What does the infantry fear most? The opponents air force and the own artillery :D

Thanks Viper,

I suspect that the range stats are actually for the missile system. While the video likely shows engagement of tower mounted static fake airborne targets, I believe that the missile system can be guided into a point on the ground.
